Although we didn’t reach our financial goal, we are moving forward as planned ツ

Hey there! We're Diana and Jordan - a couple of passionate travelers. Diana is a blogger and a freelance marketing consultant, and Jordan is a motion graphics designer.

We came up with a way to turn people's memories into impressive visual stories - we create short movies from travel photos and video clips, making it easy to share travel experience and emotions with friends and family. 

We even found a way to make this tool available online for everyone to create their own short travel movies and share their adventure with the world! But we need your help.

We need to raise $12,500 to cover the initial expenses of the hardware and licensing fees involved in the production. 

So we're turning to you, passionate travelers from around the world - to ask for your support.

In exchange, we're offering:

• free travel movies when the project is available to the general public (ETA is May 2014)
  
• participation in the closed one-month beta testing period (ETA is April 2014)
  
• or if you are really passionate - creating a video intro or ending based on your idea.

Where Are We Now

Almost ready to go!

We have already designed Road Trip maps for Europe and the USA, Cruise maps for the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, and 3 world maps for the Album type of movie.

We have created 4 amazing intros and 4 completely different endings – making it possible for you to create exciting and fun travel movies, whether you have been on a cruise, a road trip or a city tour. (You can see in the gallery a few trailers featuring different maps, intros and endings, to get a better idea of it all!)

We have developed the online interface of the Travel Movie Maker on our website and the beta test is just around the corner!

We still don’t have the infrastructure to execute the production of many travel movies quickly and reliably. So here’s where you come in! 

What We Need The Money For

All contributions will go toward hardware, software and licensing costs associated with providing you with a great user experience! 

We are going to:

• purchase two workstation assembled specifically for processing video - as well as other necessary hardware like UPS units
  
• acquire additional licenses for the video editing software and the necessary Plug-ins
  
• set up a dedicated hosting service 
  
• obtain licenses for mass reproduction of royalty free songs for the use of optional background themes. 
  

We are making small steps in that direction as we speak – but it will be so much faster, rewarding and fun with your help!

The Story - how the Meliway Travel Movie Maker came about

Remember how we told you we are passionate travelers? Well, in 2012 we took a 2 weeks road trip in Spain along the Mediterranean coast. Those were over 2000 km or almost 1300 miles driving - what a road trip!

Now, imagine how many pictures we took during that trip.

So, trying to share at least a little bit of our Spanish adventure with friends and family, we started looking for a tool online to make a travel movie with our pictures and videos.

Needless to say, we found a few tools which offered slideshows of some kind – but, ah – well, we wanted a real movie, not some slideshow with pictures transition effects.

So Jordan started assembling a movie – with a map of Spain, our road trip route, pictures, and everything. When it was finally ready, we were excited and eager to share it. 

Our friends liked it so much that we thought we are onto something. There are so many travelers out there and so little options for them to share their adventures with friends and family in a fun, interesting and different way.

For the past year, we have been working on perfecting the video templates as well as the production technology and process.

Risks, challenges and when to expect delivery

As with every venture, there are always risks and challenges and the biggest one of all - the shortage of funds.

We are doing everything ourselves so there’s no doubt we will succeed. We LOVE this project and we will see it through as soon as we can.

If you help us with contributions though, you bring the success one step closer because we will have the needed funds NOW - to invest in the infrastructure we need so much to bring the Meliway Travel Movie Maker to life. :)

All honorable mentions to our Scouts will be delivered within a couple of days (we have our site up and running – with the Supporters page already in place!).

If this campaign is successful, we estimate we can beta test with our Pioneers during April; then by the end of May the Travel Movie Maker will be online and all Guides can start redeeming their free video coupons afterwards.

And for the Prophets – pitching ideas and bringing them to life can take time so an ETA by the end of August is a fair deal, don’t you think?
