L'envers still needs your help! We have now covered our August and September rent, but that only puts us at zero...give to help us reach sustainability. Still on our shopping list: a new coat of paint, some electrical work, a bass amp, and a grand piano. Thankyou for your generosity so far!!!
Please help keep the music alive at L'Envers!!!
L’Envers began in 2008 when Philippe Battikha and I shared a dream of a space in Montreal dedicated to improvised music. We hit the streets and found a wonderful loft space on Ave. Van Horne in Montreal’s Mile End. We moved in with a couple friends and began renovating to make the space liveable and ready for shows. After 3 months of labour and personal financial investment, we opened for our first show on June 28 2008.
Four years and over 500 shows later, the space is still alive and evolving. We`re a welcoming home for Montreal’s improvised music scene, and we`ve also hosted musicians from more than 15 countries, including Marshall Allen, Xavier Charles, Jean Derome, Henry Grimes, the Bozzini Quartet, the Ratchet Orchestra, Le Quan Ninh, and Ben Monder.
We need to raise $1600 by August 24th just to catch up on our rent. You can help us stay alive and to continue to grow into the future. Imagine a L’envers with a grand piano, a top-notch drumkit, and the security to remain a vital home of creative music in Montreal and the world for many years to come!
We have created 6 exciting membership options in exchange for your donation, something for everyone no matter how thick your wallet is! (We're also grateful for donations of any amount)
If you`re in Montreal, come to our SOS Rent Party on August 24th!
And remember, you can rent the space for rehearsals starting at $10/hour.
Please help spread the word far and wide.
