Pepper’s Ghost
Exactly 150 years ago (1862) John Henry Pepper introduced a projection technique that is now known as ‘Pepper’s ghost’. This technique allowed live people or objects to appear on stage, like ghosts.
After 100 years, in the 1960’s, with the introduction of projectors, Uwe Maass and The Walt Disney Company further pioneered the techniques using the effect to thrill visitors in theme parks (Haunted Mansion), theaters and events.
Now 50 years later, we came up with the next step; bringing it to your living room.
Prototypes
We experimented with different materials and created two product lines; the mini holo@home for smartphones and the maxi holo@home for iPad and 10.1” tablets.
The first prototypes were made out of carton board. Although they work really good, the carton versions are time consuming to fold and the maxi carton version isn’t strong enough to hold a tablet. For this reason, we are going to make the final mini and maxi versions out of plastic.
Holographic content
I guess that it was hard to sell the first televisions, if there wasn’t any channel to look at. The same goes for the holo@home. We will setup a website to offer creators a place to share their content and user the possibility to find it.
Creating good holographic content is easy to do. We’ve been creating content for a long time and we put our experience into 10 golden rules for creating holographic content. Now it’s still in writing, but as soon as the holo@home is released, we will have a holographic tutorial (maybe the world’s first ;).
What we need
Creating the tooling for producing the plastic versions, the production of the first batch and the shipping is expensive. Although we do invest ourselfs, we run a bit short :(
We already gave a GO for the tooling (over 20.000 euro's). To be able to produce the initial batch and ship them to us, we need approx 30.000 euro's.
If you like our holo@home, please help us by telling others about this!
What you get
Depending on your perk, you will get our '10 golden rules for creating holographic content' manual, a holo@home mini, a holo@home maxi, or both. For companies, we will also offer a promotion pack of 10 holo@home mini's, 10 holo@home maxi's with personalised sides and their own 3D holographic logo.
