Hi there! I'm Jenny Reeves, and I make hand-crafted jewelry from recycled precious metals. My work combines the ancient technique of fusing with a modern alloy of sterling silver called Argentium. Argentium does things that would be difficult or impossible with traditional sterling, and I’ve spent four years developing techniques that take advantage of it’s unique properties. The result is original stone-texture jewelry that I'll be launching nationally at my first trade show this summer in NYC.
This spring I was a runner-up in the American Jewelry Design Council’s New Talent Competition, and I’ve been invited to join the New Designer Gallery at the JA NY trade show. Only 10 U.S. designers are invited to New Designer Gallery and we will all be competing for the title of New Designer of the Year - it's a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I need your help to realize it!
How I’ll use the funds:
Booth Fee: $3500
Airfare + hotel: $1800
Why support me?
Good question! Suggested reasons below - pick one, all, or mix & match.
My work is unique.
While the techniques I use are ancient, Argentium sterling silver has only been available in the U.S. since 2003. Argentium does neat things that traditional sterling doesn’t do, and opens new worlds of possibility. My work is the result of four years experimentation, development, and refinement of processes to create unique layered stone textures. These textures combined with clean lines, classical proportions, and fine craftsmanship define my signature style.
I’m nice to the planet.
I buy about 90% recycled precious metals. All raw materials are 100% recycled (sheet, wire, tubing;) some findings (chains, clasps) are not.
I’m nice to people.
All of my diamonds are conflict-free. About 70% have been third-party certified at each step of a transparent supply chain for environmentally and socially responsible practices.
I also donate tools and a portion of sales to to Made by Survivors, an NGO that teaches marketable skills to women & girls rescued from human trafficking and slavery. The training the women receive in the Dust-to-Dazzle jewelry program enables them to earn a living which prevents them from being re-enslaved. A friend of mine heads the project in India and she does AWESOME work!
Don’t forget the SWAG.
Rewards come in many forms.
INTANGIBLES: Love, gratitude, and =good feelings= that come from helping someone realize their dreams.
TANGIBLES: Prizes! Jewelry! Exclusives!
I'll be adding rewards images as the campaign progresses, you can view them now on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.362114050509267.86168.130690236984984&type=1
Thank you for considering my project!
