The Last Ask: We're Upping the Ante!
![Schieffer Githyanki]()
We’ve got just over 24 hours left before the end of the Indiegogo campaign, and we’re still $600 dollars short of our stretch goal. We really want to see Clyde Rhoer at Gen Con, so we’re sweetening the deal!
You know those two mind melting monsters James Raggi designed for us? The James Raggi who is so well-known for self-restraint? Who is certainly never prone to excess?
Well, Mr. Raggi’s typing hand must have slipped, because he sent us four monsters. And an essay. It’s about creating and using monsters in your game.
That’s pretty darn cool. But we haven’t even gotten to the part where we sweeten the deal yet! What if we told you those monster entries are going to be professionally laid out, and illustrated by the amazing Chris Schieffer (the guy who drew the totally wicked Githyanki picture you see above)? Because as it turns out, that is what we’re telling you!
So if that sounds awesome to you, please contribute, and tell a few friends about the awesome monsters. If you’re feeling generous, buy a T-shirt, or a seat at one of the awesome games we’ll be running at Gen Con, or the Galileo games pack, or a custom-designed SRS for the Mecha RPG. Help us get Clyde to Gen Con. He’s an awesome guy, and he’ll make the show better. We promise.
p.s. Before anybody asks, anyone who already pledged at a level that gets the James Raggi monsters will get all 4 monsters, fully awesomified, as described above.
UPDATE: Stretch Goal! Help us bring Clyde Rhoer to Gen Con!
Thank you so much to everyone who's given to the campaign so far. We reached our original goal of $1,500, and during that time we found out that Clyde Rhoer (of the Theory From the Closet and Yellow Menace podcasts, and all-around great guy) was going to miss out on Gen Con this year due to money concerns. We couldn't let that happen!
If we're able to get to $2,500, every penny past the original goal will go toward bringing Clyde to Gen Con, where he'll record Theory From the Closet-style interviews and podcast with the This Just In crew.
If you're able to help, we'd appreciate it so much - and Clyde would too!
Who We Are
Now in its fifth year, This Just In...From Gen Con brings you timely news and interviews straight from Indianapolis. Whether you're an attendee or listening at home, This Just In...From Gen Con captures the excitement of the Best Four Days in Gaming and delivers it right to your ears.
Returning host Rich Rogers is currently the host of Canon Puncture and co-host of RPG Crosstalk. This year Rich is bringing three co-hosts on board, Alex and Ed from The Yellow Menace Podcast, and roving reporter Steph!
Together they will endeavor to bring you the best This Just In... coverage from Gen Con yet.
What We Need & What You Get
Our goal is to provide daily coverage spanning Thursday - Sunday; two episodes per day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and one episode on Sunday. In addition we will be recording preview episodes before the show and a special This Just In...From Gen Con wrap up episode after the con.
This year we plan to expand our coverage to include convention-floor interviews, as well as the 'studio audience' experience and early-bird daily preview episodes from last year. Non-attendees will be able to experience all the fun and excitement of the Gen Con experience as it happens, while attendees will be kept appraised of things they might want to see at the convention.
To make This Just In...From Gen Con happen in 2012 we're investing in new recording equipment to facilitate on-the-spot interviews. In addition to ofsetting the cost of the hardware, your contributions help cover travel expenses and lodging.
We've also added a number of Perks as a Thank You to our Supporters, from a $10 Friend contribution level all the way up to full show Sponsorship. To help the campaign we've brought on board some really exciting game industry insiders, including:
See the Perks at right for full details. (Note: For overseas supporters - for any Perk that includes shipping physical objects please add $5 to your total. Thanks!)
Update: Here's a look at the Limited Edition shirt!
Update #2: Here's a few sample Cthulhu-themed dice cups from
Sova Leatherworks to give you an idea of what you'll receive as part of the Patron Perk level. You can choose from either the Elder Sign or Yellow Sign caps; the cup side is inscribed with the Chapter 1 of H.P. Lovecraft's
At The Mountains of Madness.
