WHAT THIS IS...

In the spirit of “Grim Fandango” and "Discworld Noir", but with the classic look of golden era point and clicks such as “The Secret of Monkey Island”, “The Big Sheep” is a dark, twisting murder mystery conspiracy story based on the idea that all nursery rhymes are fractured, confused accounts of events in the same twisted story. It will provide a treat for fans of old school adventures and mystery lovers alike.

The Big Sheep was a concept created from a love of point and click adventure games, folklore, and classic hardboiled noir detective stories and films. It recasts Bo Peep as Bo the Peeper, and teases out the dark edges of these beloved childhood poems by pairing them with the shadowy overtones of the noir genre.

The player takes the role of Bo the Peeper, private detective and one of few surviving believers in justice in a town gone bad. What seems like a  straightforward case for her leads to clashing heads with Duke York, the chief of The Town's police force, and the Jacks, a sinister mafia-type organisation that seems to be running The Town from beneath. As Bo gets entrenched deeper and deper in the swirling, bloody pot of mysteries, can she get out alive? Maybe you can even help her solve the mystery that is still closest to her heart - Where HAS her sheep gone?

The game will feature over thirty unique and painstakingly drawn interactive rooms, a huge cast of characters, and a complex, involving mystery that will keep you guessing and gasping up to the very end.

WHO WE ARE...

We are a dedicated two person creative team based in England UK consisting of Davy and Kimberleigh Malay. Davy is an artist from the North of England whose work includes comics and point and click adventure games. His large scale installation piece “This is only this” was recently displayed at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Arts. He is working as main writer and background artist on “The Big Sheep”. He has been active in the indie adventure game scene for more than a decade, and his previous adventure games include “The Day That Nothing Happened” and the forthcoming “Teardrop”.
Kimberleigh is a folklorist from Michigan USA who gives the project a strong backbone of support; editing, voice acting, play testing, and giving the occasional hand with coding, animating, or concept art.

THE IMPACT...

By funding “The Big Sheep”, you are allowing us the opportunity to work full time on this project, giving us the chance to fully devote our energies toward creating the most polished and most professional game we can. With this money, we will also be able to employ an animator to take some of the load of the graphics work from Davy, and to pay for the moody, bluesy noir soundtrack that Bo's world deserves. It will also allow us to hire actors to fully voice the game, and feed and support ourselves while we work on it. We have already poured countless hours into this project, and would love to be able to work on it full time on this project, and with this funding, we can do so. With full funding, we aim to have the game completed by the new year.

Donating also gives you the chance to receive the incentives packages detailed in the sidebar. Higher levels of donation come with more exciting perks, including the opportunity for yourself or a friend to have a character in the game based on their likeness, or even provide a voice for a character.

If we don’t make goal: The people who donated will still get their incentives, and we will still make the game, but it may take longer to be finished for release, and the overall polish of the finished game probably won’t be as high.
If we make goal: The game will get made, hopefully finished for release by coming new year, with voice acting, music, and an offbeat noir story.
If we make 5k: The game release will include special features.
If we make more than that: MockPuppet games will be able to fund other game projects we have planned.

If we exceed our goal the game will have more special features and over all polish. Depending how much more, we may also have the opportunity to launch other projects.

You can also lend your support to this project by sharing it with your friends and helping us reach a wider audience. We’re grateful for everyone’s enthusiasm and encouragement!

To keep you informed about this and other projects we’ve created a blog that will give regular updates on the game’s progress: http://mockpuppetgames.wordpress.com/
