Who We Are & What We Are Doing
HI! And, thank you for checking us out. Our names are Marcus Casian and Don Bastida. We were students at Saddleback College last semester when we made this film. We are not your typical college students (we are in our late 40’s), for us it is more like going back to school. Marcus is a photographer in Orange County, California specializing in headshots and family portraits. Don is a veteran traffic and news reporter having spent 25 years on the air in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
We are both making the transition into film and are very enthusiastic about what the future holds for us.
Accused is a story about a young woman who is attacked on a deserted highway. Following the attack, a kind couple happens by, picks up the young woman and brings her to a local diner where she can get some help. But, once at the diner, she spots her attacker. A mob mentality ensues as the “Accused” finds himself looking directly into the barrel of the gun.
We funded this entire project ourselves and are now at the point of being ready for film festival entries and competition. Of course, that costs more money and that is why we are asking for your help. We both feel this film is strong enough to get us noticed and attract attention in our abilities, as well as the talent and abilities of our cast and crew. Being able to showcase what we all can do in premier film festivals is the best way for that to happen.
We hope that you will watch our clip and want to see more from us in the future.
Again, thank you for your time and consideration.
What We Need & What You Get
We are asking for a total of $2000, which we feel is a reasonable amount to cover the costs of about 10 premier festival entry fees plus help with the travel costs of attending and networking at those festivals.
In exchange for your generosity, we can offer you this:
For a donation of $10 or more, you will receive a huge “Thank You” and our eternal gratitude!
For a donation of $25 or more, we will send you a copy of the full size Accused Lobby Poster!
For a donation of $50 or more, we will send you a copy of the Accused DVD!
For a donation of $100 or more, we will send you a copy of the Accused DVD plus a full size lobby poster!
For a donation of $200 or more, we will send you a copy of the Accused DVD, a full size lobby poster and you will receive an Associate Producer credit on IMDb!
For a donation of $300 or more, we will send you a copy of the Accused DVD, a full size lobby poster autographed by the producers and select members of the cast, and you will receive an Executive Producer credit on IMDb!
If, for some reason, we do not reach our entire goal, the funds we do receive will still go to entering this film in the festivals we can afford.
What does your contribution mean to us?
Support is something everyone in need appreciates; yet there isn’t enough of it in the world. We see it at the very top with our President working to bring Health Care to everyone in America, but we see others trying to stand in the way. The Arts are similar. A lot of the time, The Arts do not make money, at least not until the Artists develop.
If you could see the young college students who worked hard on this project, with no compensation? They are developing young artists and they have extraordinary talent, they just need the support to continue to develop. Actors are the same. They do this kind of work for free to develop their skills, to sharpen their acting tools, to get noticed, to work on becoming better. Check out our cast and crew on our IMDb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2217722/
Wherever we go with this, we will be taking our cast and crew with us. Not just to the festivals, but to our next project, and our project after that, and so on. Your contribution will help these young artists and young actors make it in this industry.
As I said at the top, we are not your typical college students; we have successful track records in other industries (photography and radio). Those things that we learned in the past, will speed our development in the future. And your generosity will make that happen.
I Like Your Story But I Can’t Contribute
That’s OK. The economy still hasn’t fully recovered, we get that. That’s part of the reason we are here and asking for your help. But, there are other ways you can help.
Tell your friends about us. You can e.Mail them our Indiegogo link, or Tweet the information or post it on Facebook. Social media is a solid way for you to share our info with your friends and maybe they will be able to help, too.
Also, Indiegogo has a share tool (located directly below the video at the top) you can use to let others in the Indiegogo family know about us.
Again, thank you for your time and generosity. I can tell you that we appreciate it greatly and our cast and crew do as well.
