For 40 years, Congregation Beth Chayim Chadashim has been able to offer a safe space of worship, celebration and community for LGBT Jews from all over the US. Being part of this community since my arrival from Berlin in 2009 has been an amazing journey. I was lucky to discover, perform and make music with wonderfully talented musicians and colleagues in front of a caring, warm and open community.
It's BCC's 40th anniversary this year and what a better way to celebrate it - than with music -
or better yet, with an album AND a concert!
The album is going to have music sung in Hebrew and in English, comprised of classical and contemporary pieces by Samuel Naumbourg, Stephen Richards, Debbie Friedman and more, original compositions and a (still) secret duet, all performed at BCC over the years. I plan on making these pieces my own and sharing my love for them with you, all in a modern sound. The record will be produced by Josh Friedman and will be launched at a special concert toward the end of 2012. Both the album and the concert will help fund future musical events at BCC. Feel free to check out BCC's YouTube channel, as well as my own YouTube channel, for excerpts from past musical events.
I invite you to take part in this endeavor of bringing more of the beauty of music to BCC, by helping me fund this project!
Recording, editing, mastering, mixing, manufacturing, paying royalties and distributing the album all require money. I expect the project to cost around $5,000 - a bit more than the goal set for this campaign, so should we reach this campaigns goal don't hesitate to give more!
By contributing, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you have brought us closer to meeting our financial goal, as well as securing the future of musical funding at BCC (guest-speakers, guest-singers, guest musicians, concerts, shows, etc!). As an added incentive, you'll also receive a perk, as specified below:
- Free copies of the album,
- free tickets to the concert,
- VIP seating for the concert
- and more!
Even if you can't contribute, please help spread the word and make some noise about the campaign!
Thank you all in advance for your support and faith in this project. I hope to see you all for the album's release, which will coincide with the concert toward the end of the year!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me!
