What is it?
This Is Not a Game is a documentary style web-series, which chronicles the lives of diehard sports fans as they follow their favorite teams and experience the joy of victory and the desolate, soul-swallowing torment of any result that can’t be referred to as “victory.” New episodes will be released each Wednesday during the season, allowing for one day of editing after the Monday night games.
UPDATE: Given that it appears that we will fall well-short of the required budget, we will only be able to produce one or two episodes per month, which will give us anywhere from 6-8 episodes total. We would love to have a new episode each week, but our resources won't allow for it. We sincerely apologize for the change in plans, but we hope you understand and will continue to support our efforts. THANKS!
Nothing like this has ever been done before. You will see what life is like for the diehard sports fan. You will enjoy those good faces grown ass men make when they think their lives will be exponentially improved or worsened based on the energy expended by millionaires, most of whom, win or lose, are completely oblivious to the feelings of their fans. But, this isn’t about the millionaires. You’ve heard their stories enough. Most of them are all the same anyway: Single-Mom-Millionaire, Two-Parent Household-Millionaire and The Adopted By a White Family-Millionaire. Those are the three archetypes of The 21st Century Athlete, as created by the American sports media. What about the fan? What’s his story?

“Uh-Uh. I’m interested. Continue…”
The Inaugural season of This Is Not a Game follows the journey of KBadd, The Greatest Washington Redskins Fan Who Ever Lived. For the last 20 years, KBadd’s life as a Skins fan has been a dizzying blur of draft busts, hideous free agent signings, quarterback controversies, Cowboy championships, Giants championships and perhaps most sadly, the fruitless return of legendary head coach Joe Gibbs, which turned out to be football’s equivalent of Caddyshack II. In fact, if Gibbs had played Jackie Mason at quarterback, things could not have conceivably gone worse.
Such is the misery KBadd has endured.
Adding to his torture are his friends, a motley crew of diehards, led by Ceez, a Cowboys fan who hosts the crew in his basement each Sunday during the season. The Basement offers good food, The DirecTV NFL Package, an humongous HD projection screen and an unyielding torrent of ridicule with which KBadd has grown far too familiar. If the anguish brought on by the Redskins wasn’t enough, he’s yet to win the coveted True Grit fantasy football league trophy. True Grit is the official fantasy football league of The Basement and a huge topic of discussion during the games. Ceez is the defending champion. He's won it twice. Again, KBadd has never won it. Ever.
But, KBadd believes this year will be different. Why? Only he knows. Something to do with a new quarterback and the leadership skills of an old linebacker. For the sake of his sanity, let’s all hope this pans out for him, because it’s not like he’ll find mercy in The Basement.
