WHY THIS CAMPAIGN
Our nation is facing a crisis in Art education. To satisfy budget cuts, art classes are being eliminated from our schools at an alarming rate. In Churchill County, our elementary schools now have NO art classes. To allow this to happen is to seriously inhibit the development of our children and our future. To remove Art from our communities is to stifle imagination and suppress quality of life. At Rising Sun we believe a community art center can play a vital role in stimulating our citizens, young and old, and in revitalizing our community.
MISSION
Rising Sun Gallery and Art Studios has been created to mitigate the impact of the growing void in Art education. Our primary goal is to keep Art and Art education alive by offering studio workshops where Art instruction is provided in an inclusive, creative and stimulating environment.
WHAT WE DO
We offer instruction in a wide variety of Art disciplines to bring people together in shared expression, creativity and fellowship. By reaching out to seniors, our local military base, school children, and all others, we aspire to bridge the divide between generations and societal strata, and to re-establish a true sense of community. A gallery space adjoins the studio workshop to display the work of students and promote the work of many talented artists in Nevada and other western states.
WHO WE ARE
The inspiration for and the founder of this enterprise is Patricia Kupferer Sammons, who manages the gallery and workshop activities. Patricia is a working artist and a experienced gallery manager. Our studio instructors are five very talented artists that includes the head of the art department at our Jr. High School. These wonderful individuals are dedicated to providing quality, personalized instruction.
Rising Sun Gallery and Art Studios is a licensed Nevada company that opened on March 6th of this year. We are centrally located in downtown Fallon, Nevada, at 203 South Maine Street. During the past eight months we have received a positive reaction from the community that is demonstrated by increasing enrollment in our classes and gallery Art sales are steadily increasing.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Our opening was achieved with a lot of volunteerism, donations and borrowing of essential furnishings, supplies and equipment. Our campaign goal of $50,000 will enable us to replace all the borrowed items, expand the studio workshop area to accomodate community gatherings as well larger classroom space, and make a number of basic interior improvements. We also need to bolster our operating budget so we can engage in proper advertising and promotion campaigns; pay for legal, accounting and grant writing assistance, and be able to pay our key volunteers. If successful this campaign will allow us to expand our classes and strengthen our revenue streams. It will also enable us to continue to keep the cost of our classes at an affordable level for the majority of our community and increase our ability to offer some free classes.
Supporting Art Education here in Fallon will bring lasting benefits to society at large. Each person enriched by the creative experience will likely influence others they meet in a positive way.
Every dollar received will bring us closer to reaching our goals and allows us to maintain our momentum. You can also help by spreading the word. Tell your friends about us and ask them to tell their friends. You can keep in touch with us on Facebook and Gmail at risingsunartgallery@gmail.com
