Our Project
“This documentary feature will cover the creation of an eight-foot tall bronze statue which filmmaker Irv Kershner, upon first seeing the work in progress compared to Michelangelo’s Pietà! The fascinating story begins with twelve-year-old Ray Bradbury’s spark to begin writing, created in the early 1930s by a carnival magician he met who truly changed his life, continuing with his book THE ILLUSTRATED MAN, and ultimately tying fathers and sons together in an amazing bond.” – John Sasser
“Having worked closely with both Chris Slatoff and Ray Bradbury on the creation of this project, I am particularly hopeful to raise enough funding to make it a worthy tribute to the great Ray Bradbury.” – John Sasser
“I became very close to Ray during the last few years of his life, and I want to create the best art we can so that we may accurately express the passion with which this man lived every minute of his life. This is far more than just the sculpting of a piece of art – it’s pure Bradbury, and a side of him that not many are aware of, but would be amazed to discover.” – John Sasser
What We Need & What You Get
“We aim to produce a full length feature in HD with crisp sound and professional scoring finished by winter. We were able to produce this trailer, with busted old computers, faulty software, time code errors, and the help from our friends who believed in the project as much as we have. Our support will fund the proper equipment needed to help us preserve over 3 hours of footage (an hour long interview of Ray and Chris), future rentals and pay wages for our crew. We’ll need money for advertising, website maintenance, film festival expenses, making your merchandise, and pay the publishers, so eventually you’ll be able to watch this film in your own home. We got this far on our own dime, but with your support, we hope to show you the journey behind the process of this magnificent creation and share in the collaboration behind making Slatoff’s Father Electrico.” – Steven Kuhlman
“We can make the film look ok, or, with your generosity, we can make the film look great, giving us the best opportunity to be noticed and get into film festivals, on television and in local screenings in the fine arts community.” – John Sasser
The Impact
“I’ve been given a special opportunity to witness this remarkable event in art history. My goal with this project is to share this story with anyone interested in Ray Bradbury’s last collaboration with two of the most talented artists that I’ve become close friends with. I hope to show the world, their creation and know you’ll appreciate and respect this piece as I have.” – Steven Kuhlman
Other Ways You Can Help
