I am a film director/producer (America 2011, The stars of the Estuary) raising funds for Marina's secret world, an adventure film for teens, to be shot in Puerto Rico.
The campaign is to raise the funds to shoot the underwater scenes with Sofia, the turtle, since it is scheduled to be set free in a month. We don't want to lose the reality of having it as our co-protagonist, together with the young actress. Using a fake turtle will be very expensive and ultimately less moving. The filming will also raise awareness of the need to protect the turtles and the incredible journeys they take by crossing the oceans .
The film Marina's Secret World is a contemporary tale about a deaf 13-year old young woman who is able to reconnect with her surroundings through her relationship with a presumed to be extinct turtle (Sofia). This exotic Caribbean tale deals with feeling rejected in a foreign place, wanting to belong to a group of guys, through her cross dressing, fighting for the nesting beaches and coming to terms with a new family, community and self. It’s a magical film of a rebellious girl who overcomes her limitations, saving nature and following a dream.

What We Need & What You Get

- If we don't reach our financial goal, we will still film with a lower end equipment, but we will still advance the project.
