life’s letter: a journey within a journey
my name is carly & i am on a quest. i am going to England to retrace my grandmothers steps. my grandparents met during WWII. my papa was a Canadian soldier & my grama a soon to be British war bride. i have over 100 letters that she wrote that start in January of 1946 & go all the way to her highly anticipated departure to Canada, 7 months later.
on my quest i will share my journey discovering hers, honouring the generations before me, realizing that i am part of something WAY bigger here. this story needs to be shared with the world to remember a time that has impacted us all.
my plan is to write a book. on the anniversary day of each letter, i will do what she did. 67 years later, i will watch the movies she watched, walk the streets she walked, visit the places she visited. the book will be a compilation of excerpts from her letters, experiences from my journey & photographs from now and then. my book will be a record of my journey and the magic of human connection that i discover along the way.
this is a journey about the amazing power of stories that connect people, times & places. it's about discovering the inspiration in our family stories. it's about each person's ability to create amazing experiences in life that impact future generation.

with your support, i will be able to focus all of my attention on life’s letter. i will be able to fully immerse myself into this journey and connect with the depths of my grama's story. i will use this campaign to cover my expenses, including publishing costs on my return to Canada, accomodations, airfare and living expenses while i am in England. in hopes to make this journey even more parallel, my dream is to travel back to North America on the Queen Mary II from England just as my grama did 67 years earlier on the Queen Mary.
