An Austrian band, a YouTube video that went viral, and sudden popularity in South America — FUCK THE ATLANTIC OCEAN is a music, film and web project about Sweet Sweet Moon visiting their biggest fans on the other side of the world.
"Fuck the Atlantic ocean, making it near impossible to ever see you guys!"

HOW IT STARTED
In 2011 They Shoot Music Don't They filmed local band Sweet Sweet Moon performing a song on a street in Vienna. The video exploded on YouTube, reaching over 600,000 views, and gained the band a surprisingly large and enthusiastic fanbase in South America, even though Sweet Sweet Moon have never been there, played there, or released any record there. For some reason more and more fans from down south have embraced the music of a young band from the far side of the world. And they keep asking Sweet Sweet Moon to cross the Atlantic for a tour.
Which they will, with your help!
THE FILM
In March, 2013, Sweet Sweet Moon will embark on an adventurous journey through Argentina and Chile, from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean – and They Shoot Music will join to film the trip! Along the route Sweet Sweet Moon will play free house shows for their biggest fans and perform intimate and spontaneous sessions in unusual places (small villages, deserts, mountaintops, and wherever else the spirit moves us). We'll meet the fans, who have long waited for this to happen, and we'll also look for chance encounters with strangers that might help us understand why Sweet Sweet Moon's music strikes such a chord with South Americans.
The film will be an authentic portrait of an up-and-coming band and an exploration of a beautiful part of the world and its people. The full-length music documentary/roadmovie will be available online, as a limited-edition DVD, and – if all goes well – shown at film festivals.
THE WEB SERIES
Not only are we making a movie, but during the trip we'll also film eight to ten live sessions of Sweet Sweet Moon performing a song each in an inspiring and unforgettable place. A busy square in Buenos Aires, a dusty roadside cantina, the bedroom of a new friend, a deserted spot in the Andes — it could be anywhere! Each session will tell a short story, feature a unique live performance, and be released on the specially designed FUCK THE ATLANTIC OCEAN website.
THE BLOG
During the journey we'll post daily blog entries featuring photos, videos, text and audio files on the FUCK THE ATLANTIC OCEAN website. Fans can follow our route on a map, interact with us and be part of the adventure.

ABOUT US
They Shoot Music Don’t They is a collective of pop culture enthusiasts, filmmakers and photographers. We film unique offstage performances of bands we like in unusual, mostly urban, settings. The stripped-down sessions are unannounced, spontaneous, and can take place literally anywhere. Our aim is to capture an intimate musical moment and a snapshot of the everyday life of people and places. We started exploring our homebase Vienna by means of music videos in late 2007 and have since then released roughly one session per week, including videos, photos, location infos, and maps. FUCK THE ATLANTIC OCEAN will be our first full-length music documentary.

Sweet Sweet Moon is first and foremost young Viennese multi-instrumentalist Matthias Frey, who is signed to the independent label Siluh Records. Alone on stage Matthias creates orchestral soundscapes from scratch, utilizing the violin, a dumcomputer and his best sidekick – the loop pedal. Despite a similar artistic approach, Sweet Sweet Moon’s performances are far from the perfectly staged shows of Owen Pallet or Patrick Wolf. Quite the opposite: Matthias’ gigs are famously driven by a charming quirkiness. Spontaneously integrating borrowed instruments, launching a Nirvana cover with a distorted violin out of the blue or dancing between the effect box pedals in socks, Sweet Sweet Moon osciallates between genius and insanity. It goes without saying that not everything works out smoothly under such circumstances, but by the last song this insanely talented Candide will have melted your heart. On his trip to South America Matthias will be accompanied by cello wizard Toni Traubensaft.
