Who We Are
The African country of Mozambique has been called one of the poorest nations in the world on many occasions. When you consider its history of civil war, low average household income, and high unemployment rates, it is clear to see how this nation would have gained its title. The presence of HIV/AIDS, malaria, severe malnutrition, water-borne illnesses, and an outrageously high infant mortality rate only adds to their troubles. However, among the unfavorable social and economic situation, there is hope.
One Heart Africa was founded in October 2012 by a college-aged couple who are passionate about not only feeding, educating, and employing people living in extreme poverty such as this, but also finding ways to break the poverty cycle all together. Since their founding, the organization has built a school for the community of Licilo, Mozambique and also provide nutritious food and clean water which was previously unavailable. Though we feel that this a good start, there is still SO much more that could be done for our friends.
One of the most powerful and effective tools for communication today is film. That's why we need to raise funds to bring a crew with us to capture the development (so far) and personal stories of Licilo so that we can share it with others! As stated on the video, plane tickets to Africa are very expensive. Along with that, we also need to provide lodging, food, and in-country transportation for our film crew for a total cost of around $5,500. We believe that we can reach this goal, but NEED YOUR HELP! Please consider giving to this cause. Though it may seem small, your contribution will go towards growing our organization which means more schools, more healthy children, more jobs, and more hope in Licilo.
What We Need & What You Get
At One Heart Africa, transperency (especially in the area of finances) is something that we are very adamant about. That's why 100% of the money raised through this campaign is going directly to the filming and production of a documentary-style informational video. The expenses include transportation to and through Mozambique, lodging, and food for the film crew. We are in NO way making a profit from your donations. Our fundraising goal strictly covers expenses only. If we exceed our goal, anything over the cost of the trip will go directly towards feeding programs and educational development in Licilo.

The Impact
It is often said that "ignorance is bliss." However, we are also convinced that it is a major contributor to apathy. After all, if you don't know, how can you act? We believe the best way to tell our story and bring awareness to the great poverty and injustice that has plagued the people of Mozambique is through film. Your donation is acting as a catalyst for change as it helps our friends in Licilo share their stories in hopes that they will be finally heard.
