Hello Contributors,

Great news everyone! As our teaser has been viewed more and more, we have made contact with a number of interested people in the industry, and we have been fortunate enough to create partnerships with some, such as Did You Bury It? Productions. Incredibly, we have found investors in the industry who have decided to invest in Death to the World!

With these vast improvements to our production team, our goals here, with our fundraiser campaign, have adjusted. Thankfully, we are now covered as for equipment and the larger needs of production. That means your contributions, now freed from those costly needs, can be used elsewhere to make Death to the World even bigger!

We do still need your contributions, and we appreciate every dollar you give to our film. Now, with production costs covered, your contributions can be directed into other important areas, such as:

     1.)    Better special effects!

2.)    Food for the actors who are working very hard on set!

3.)    My personal favorite: A BIGGER FILM RELEASE! Every contribution means we can enter another festival, offer more screenings, and utilize more means of distribution in general!

Thank you all very much for supporting us! It means everything to us to have you as part of the team, and we are excited to include you in our work!

Sincerely,

Rick Gardner

Producer

Hello,

My name is Shane Gillis.  I’m the creator/co-writer and director of the film, Death to the World.  I wrote the script with my Liberal Arts life-mate, Rick Gardner, who is producing the film (see his heartfelt message after the teaser).  Rick and I started writing together in 2008.  We feel that we’ve more than paid our dues over the past five years, and have really found our voice as a creative team.  This is our first feature film.  We’ve written several other scripts, but this one decapitated and buried the others, demanding we give it a life on the screen.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t argue with sociopathic paper.

I have wanted to make a horror movie for most of my adult life.  I tried many years ago, with the introduction of Mini-DV.  Unfortunately, all the other areas of production were still far beyond what I could afford for the quality of work I wanted to produce.  These days, it’s much different.  The same technology used by the biggest studios in Hollywood is now on our laptops.  We, the little guys and gals, can now tell our story in a cinematic way that just wasn’t possible before.

Story is king.  If the story is watered down, it doesn’t matter how amazing it looks.  The movie ultimately sucks.  Just look at 90% of what’s in theatres at any given time.  You could read these words five years from now and it would still be true.  Rick and I have always worked to make sure our stories are what really stay with the reader, long after the credits have rolled.  We have spent the past couple of months finding just the right people to help complete our vision.  The talents of Josh Carples, Rudy Banes, Lindsay Garrett, and Mike Cunliffe are just a few of the many components that are helping mere words on a page come to life.  Additionally, we are joining forces with our pals over at Did You Bury It? Productions and Jonathan Thornton at Disturbing Images Effects to ensure we have the most powerful production team possible.  Pre-production has been underway for a couple of months now, and we’re just getting into the heavy lifting.  This is where we need your help.

We’re looking to raise $6800 to help cover production on this film.  The money will be used to cover equipment costs, travel expenses, lodging for out of town actors, food for cast and crew, props, and costumes.  Plus we want to be able to package and deliver your campaign rewards.  Since I am editing, scoring, and sound mixing the film, we’re saving money on lots of the post-production, allowing us to put the rest towards festival entry fees and conversion costs for screening.

Making this film is our dream.  Please help us if you can spare it.  We hope that it inspires others to follow their dreams.  With sites like this in existence, it’s truly possible to reach out and connect with the people who want to help you succeed.  We genuinely hope we’re finding lots of you now.  Thank you so much.  We’ll do our best to make you proud.

Sincerely,

Shane Gillis

Director
