www.kingeternalthefilm.comWe are extra ordinarily, not quite overboard, but undeniably crazy about shooting our new short film, KING ETERNAL (working title) this coming June 2013.
Brief Synopsis
“KING ETERNAL” is a short film about a young boy who uses his hyperactive, action-figure, water gun slinging imagination to cope with his parent’s divorce. With this, the film is separated by reality and fiction, as Nikolas Orville Remington fantasizes his father as a different character, each time saving his mother from his seemingly nefarious stepfather. Above all else, this film is a unique coming of age story with a flare for the magic of imagination.

We have the brains, the script, the camera, and the computer to make it happen; we are just missing one last variable and that's the funding. This is a breakdown overview of what we need to make it happen. We'd like to mention, most of the crew will be working for free on this project, as well as the entire cast, which is great that everyone believes in it and is as passionate, but there are some unavoidable costs that go into making a film.
Location Fees/Permits
Shooting in Los Angeles has its benefits and downfalls. Some of which, are unavoidable. That is where permits come in. We NEED to file them, and they add up quickly. In addition to permits, paying for locations can be costly as well, upwards of $300/day.
Props/Wardrobe
A unique aspect of this project: each character will be in about 2-3 different costume changes, each about $100 rental from Edith Head. That adds up to roughly $1000-$1500 for all cast members for the duration of the shoot (5 days).
Food!
Craft services (or how we feed everyone) is another biggie. Imagine 20 people who are working for free. Imagine when they get hungry. Now imagine if you didn’t have anything for them to eat. “All work and no food makes the cast/crew dull people.” (that’s our sad attempt at a Shining reference). We need water, snacks, and a good lunch for 5 days for everyone to stay on top of their game.
Sound/Makeup
Our only paid roles, as there is no real way to get around that for a project like this. Most of our crew is trained in the technical visual areas of shooting a film. We need people outside of our crew that are talented in other areas, that we can hire to bring their expertise. Cue in crisp, bassy sound and great makeup, and you have almost half of the things that make a good film.
Festivals, Misc.
And finally, we are making a movie, and it is not really anything if we don’t get people to see it. The last bit of the budget will go to making sure that we get it to as many eyeballs as possible. Submitting to film festivals in the USA and EU will be our primary focus. So let's make it happen! The miscellaneous part is any expendable gear, lenses, extra lights, etc. that we need to rent, apart from our already handsomely donated RED camera package and lighting and grip equipment from Muller Entertainment at The Studios at Las Colinas and New York Film Academy.
Cast and Crew
We've put together a wonderful talent of cast and crew and here are just a few of the people already on board. There are too many to name on here, but you will see them in the credits and most definitely some other time in the future.

The Perks of Being a Donator!
Whether you just want to help because you like helping dreams become reality, or you want a DVD or Blu-ray of the film, you want to be on-set, appear at festival screenings, or be listed as a producer, or all of those, you can do it! Also, there are other small perks like autographed posters, production stills, downloadable copies of the film, etc.
Think of it this way: have you ever been out to eat? Possibly, yes! Well, a hamburger or a meal at a restaurant can range from $10 - $20 or more. Why not invest that into something more? And even if it’s small, it goes a long way. A $15 donation can pay for someone’s lunch for the day, so don’t think a small donation won’t help. It most definitely will!
Also, you’re directly helping make a film (something that is so ingrained in our culture) become a reality! The more you give, the more recognition you get for that. You can say that you’re a film producer! And when your friends ask you to prove it, you can just pull up IMDB and shut them up!
Did you see the pages taped up on the wall in our video? That’s the script. Not so interesting to look at huh?
Well, imagine for a second, that you were to take all of those pages, crumble them up into a big paper and tape ball, throw it into a brightly lit magical machine that clicks and spins and runs like a well oiled muscle car and that beautiful piece of metal and magic spits out a myriad of different lights and colors projected onto a screen.
Those lights will be our film, and that magical machine is the beautiful process of filmmaking and you can help make it happen by a few clicks of your finger and your willingness to invest in the future of the industry.
Other Ways You Can Help
We get it. You may want to help, but just cannot do so right now. That is totally understandable. There are bills to pay, diapers to buy, gas to get you to and from work and so on and so forth, so help in another way; a free way. Share this page with friends!
Spread the word via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and any other site you can possibly think of. Or you can do a throwback to actually calling people, writing a letter? (only kidding), email them and tell them about our goal to create a really cool story about growing up.
Because we’ve all grown up, we all dream, we all have imaginations, and seeing them flourish is what makes life what it is.
