At a time when other schools are
dropping music and arts programs due to budgetary concerns, Sherwood High
School, Sandy Spring MD has managed to produce a highly entertaining,
incredible Rock and Roll Revival Show - and has been doing so for the past 45
years!
The first year that I saw this
show (2012), I was absolutely blown away. The entire show features over
250 high school students playing their instruments, singing, dancing as well as
doing all the behind the scene activities.
The parental and community
support is truly remarkable, it seems as if the entire towns of Olney,
Brookville and Sandy Spring MD, anticipate and assure that the show is a sell
out for all performances. Alumni come to help and parents that were in
previous shows are now watching their children perform.
Within the body of the
documentary, we will explore the history, planning, auditions, rehearsals, tech
week and the 45th show. We will interview current and previous student participants of the Revival. It will explore the trials and tribulations that
the student performers go through. We’ll follow a few students to get
their point of view. We will interview previous Musical Directors, parent volunteers and faculty that have made this show possible.
Most importantly we will pay
tribute to the person that has done so much for our kids and the community, Mr.
Bill Evans, who will retire after producing 36 shows.
