The Davis Deficit Neutral Job Creation Plan
My name is James Davis, a retiree from the insurance and investment industries who has two adult sons who have been affected by the 2008 economic downturn. One is a graduate of Florida A. and M. University with a B.S. Degree in political science who is currently under employed while the other has a high school education and has plans of returning to college to get a degree. He is currently employed part-time.
I started this campaign officially back in August of 2011 as that is when I launched my blog, because I saw that our government did not have a clear plan to address the issue of job creation. Discovering early on that our downturn was primarily due to the lack of consumer demand I came up with the Davis Deficit Neutral Job Creation Plan.( http://www.sslumpsum.com ).
Consumers represent 70% of the economic activity of this economy. Thus any recovery program which will genuinely affect unemployment has to involve the consumer. Think of it this way, the fuel used in your car is gasoline and ethanol. The gas comprises about 90% of the mixture. Take away the gasoline and the car does not move. Your car is not designed to just run on ethanol. That is the way the American economy functions, also. If you reduce the amount of money the consumer spends in this economy, the economic engine of this economy stalls. This is why our economy is sputtering, due to the reduced purchasing activity of the consumer. Wall Street is doing great, due primarily to the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates low.
Most American corporations are in great shape financially with solid balance sheets and products ready to sell. THEY JUST DON’T HAVE CUSTOMERS! If they don’t have customers, it is hard to make long-term hiring decisions, thus unemployment rises. Demand starts with the consumer! Our nation needs a national job creation plan that will re-engage the consumer, and create 250,000 to 300,000 jobs a month. With national, state and local governments reducing their budgets, thus leaving gaping holes where their spending provided employment through government services and purchases, the issue of addressing the missing purchasing power of the consumer looms even larger.
The facts are the facts; the consumer represents 70% of the activities of this economy. Either the consumer will re-enter this economy as a purchaser of its good and services through slowly acquiring jobs over a period of time or through an economic job creation plan initiated by the federal government. Economists predict, the former will take at least 5-7 years or more for the economy to create enough jobs at its current pace to match consumer spending prior to the downturn of 2008.
It has been almost impossible to create the kind of visibility for this solution that will make it successful. Everyone I speak with thinks it’s a great plan. However, politicians are reluctant to advance it because it involves Social Security. They are for the most part more interested in staying in office than taking the risk of touching anything related to Social Security, even a job creation plan that will end this downturn ( http://www.sslumpsum.com ).
As contributors, you will be instrumental in bringing this solution to the public. You will be considered a hero in your local community for bringing this plan to light! We will not fail!!!
What I need and where is the money going:
How do we get our message to the average every day working person?
We do it by using the $14,500.00 dollars, I am requesting to purchase 10 billboards in a media market which will propel our message across the entire country. To big a media market, the cost of advertising becomes prohibitive and our message could be lost. To small a media market and our message never stands a chance of being seen, nationally. The Orlando, Florida area is ranked 19th in size out of 40 measured television markets according to Nielsen, the television rating service and has within its market area every major television network. New York on Nielsen’s list of media markets is the largest and Las Vegas is the 40th.. Orlando’s major newspaper is the Orlando Sentinel and it is owned by the Chicago Tribune, which also owns the Los Angles Times. Why use billboards? It is called static advertising meaning the billboards we will employ are going to be fixed or stationary. It is the idea medium through which to get our message out. The message will be displayed in high trafficked areas for 30 days. The message will essentially be the same message represented here which is:
How To Create Jobs NOW!

The idea is to drive interested people to the web location where they can get more detailed information. The billboard campaign will attract both television and print media because of its message, and length of exposure. Governmental officials, no doubt will be obligated to respond. The end result is that through this campaign, with your help, and to our benefit we get the opportunity to change the discussions of the television and print news cycles. Why am I so sure, it will work? I actually did a successful campaign associated with black on black crime several years ago for a local Urban League affiliate and the subject of black on black crime became a regional and community topic of discussion for several months afterwards! (Several billboards similar to the one above were displayed). Because so many people are touched by Social Security nationally, there is no doubt the job creation plan proposed here will become a topic of national interest. Time has long passed for the unemployed to go back to work. Become a part of this great story. Contribute! The more you contribute, the sooner we can bring this downturn to an end.
The contributions go directly to the billboard company. The $14,500.00 represents the cost of the campaign plus the cost of doing business on this site. The approximate cost of the billboard campaign itself is $13,700.00.
