The Millay Colony's 4 for 40 Campaign!

In celebration of The Millay Colony for the Arts’ 40th Anniversary, we invite you to invest in the future of art-making in our country! Your contribution will directly support one-month, all expenses paid residencies for 4 deserving artists in 2014.

Each of these resident-artists at The Millay Colony will receive a lovely private bedroom and spacious private studio for the duration of their residency free-of-charge. An excellent local chef prepares meals.

Help us bring FOUR artists who might not otherwise be able to spend time with us to The Millay Colony in 2014! And thereby help us to help them create amazing art works that might not otherwise come into being!!

Who We Are

The Millay Colony for the Arts’ artists residency program and arts center is located in Austerlitz, NY on a seven-acre campus bordered by the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay's former house and gardens and the beautiful Harvey Mountain State Forest.  In our forty-year history, we have hosted more than 2,500 composers, visual artists and writers from all cultures and communities.

Today’s Millay Colony offers residencies of one month and two weeks as well as Virtual Residencies to 64 artists between April and November each year. Residencies are provided FREE to select artists each year following a juried selection process. In addition, we offer a series of related activities including: Workshop Retreats in writing and art on our gorgeous campus; Weekend Workshops on a range of subjects in NYC; and free Master Classes in writing and art at local schools.

Your Participation is ESSENTIAL And We Have So Many Beautiful Ways to Reward You

Without your help we won't be able to offer residencies to these FOUR artists, offering them the time and space to make and refine their art.  In our fast-paced and tech-heavy world, time is a tremendously vital part of the artistic process—the time to work that culminates in published or recorded or exhibited work.  At Millay, we make time a priority.  And that means that there will be more poems, plays, novels, films, operas, songs, paintings, sculptures, etchings etc. that can come into the world with YOUR help.

4 ARTISTS + ONE MONTH EACH OF TIME, STUDIO AND LIVING SPACE, NOURISHMENT, COLLABORATION = MANY NEW ARTISTIC WORKS BROUGHT INTO THIS WORLD IN 2014

In return, we extend our gratitude with a wide range of benefits, so please choose one that appeals to you and your budget and don’t forget to ask a friend to do the same...
