Short Summary

Contributors fund ideas they can be passionate about and to people they trust. Here are some things to do in this section:

  • Blessings! My name is Richard David Raybourne, I am a first generation Afro Canadian born in the late 60s. I grew up in the East End of Montreal notorious Hochelaga, Maisonneuve, as child of the 70s then teen of the 80's.
I also did some acting in a few Paramount produced films as a child actor. Of course I had economic challenges and there was dysfunction in my family like many. The back draft nearly took away my rights and my life as I was having trouble like most young men of color to find where I belonged. Break dancing did that for me as well as many of my peers in that generation before New Jack dilemma took rise and held Zulu Nation hostage. The negativity of Black male identity resonated for years as ethical censorship relaxed on the "niggersploitve, hardliner sexist, and dangerous" gang pop culture.
  • Many folks in this generation ask why do young black men get incarcerated and get locked in the drug trade. Fresh Zulus is an accounted tale of how that started, particularly in Canada!

This is my story in written in dark humor of what happened to first generation hip hop, and how to take back the night, to educate about choices and consequences. Set in a period nearly golden in hip hop, early Zulu culture in the accurate mood and cultural design of the nineteen-eighties.  I feel strongly that it is my calling and responsibility as being "original pioneers of Hip Hop Break dancers now over 40 years and many still around like Crazy Legs, Prince Ken Swift, Kool Herc.

How poverty and mental illness are factors in the oppression. Why people join gangs isn't such a mystery when we understand the jail system is a business and it does stem within order to at least take back the night as this semi autobiography, loosely based on actual events, this story is intended to show the reality of what that benefit was and the lies behind it. Especially with political and military influences that youth always revolt about "against the machine". Yet for the last 20 years before internet, we saw it coming. This is chance to set the story straight.

  • Express the magnitude of what contributors will help you achieve. Mission to save young Black boys from killing each other.Educate about a history about peace unity resilience faith and seeking God.

The Impact

Feel free to explain more about your campaign and let people know how the difference their contribution will make:

  • Project is valuable to the contributor and to the world by giving a chance to educate this era generation of contemporary inner city history, same realities faced then. To successfully eradicate the stigma of Black culture long lost past since the "dream". Never in Gen X did we think our children could go to war, still have famine, continue to be more murderous, yet have a Black president and gender rights.
  • So there have been great advances since, but the images were oppressive since OJ, Ben Johnson, Whitney Houston, Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, Jam Master Jay. The "Get Rich or Die Trying" 00's.
  • I'm used to relating with young adult oriented market, since working as a cast member in a poignant teen drama in the 1988. My challenges though faith helped me build confidence enough to accomplish a degree in Communications at Dawson College, Montreal. Specializing in drama and creative writing. I taught youth for law enforcement, strength management skills using drama in Montreal already seeing first hand some of the struggles these kids faced.
  • Important to clarify mental illness as a strong culprit to dysfunctions and abuses as I share in my testimony, by grace of the difficulty of my situation, and its impact many of my peers who identify still to this day and age, by bringing it out from the ignorance and brainwashing of organized social status. Today gangsters also come in all backgrounds and genders as the struggle became the same for a whole generation aka Gen Y, Millennial.
  • Positive to decrease gun and gang violence, if not least recondition the mental programming of what real hip hop is and always should be. Through hard core competitive break dancing which even hardliner, former communist countries are using as a form of counter strike for turf. North America particularly Canada has a history of hip hop going back since 1978 and its time to tell our story.
  • Teach youth that they also could pursue goals and express their stories by creative writing.
