Meet our first princess, Ariel! 

In the original fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen, Ariel struggles with depression and suicide. It’s for this reason that Ariel will represent Suicide Prevention. We will provide a channel on our website specifically for those who relate to Ariel’s story and will continue to encourage women to write their own story, anonymously or not. We hope to provide communication for those who experience thoughts of suicide and will connect them with the proper suicide prevention facilities. Meet our Ariel!

WATERMARK PICTURES

Watermark Pictures is a 501c3 registered non-profit organization and Emmy Award-winning production company based in Los Angeles, CA. Watermark Pictures' films will be available to view for free and all donations made to help produce these films will be tax deductible.

THE CONCEPT

"The Fairest Project" is an upcoming saga of short films created to empower women and spread awareness of the problems women face in daily life, including domestic violence, self-esteem issues, rape, addiction, and depression. Each film addresses a specific issue using imagery through the adaptation of classic fairy tales.

THE MOVEMENT

Statistically, 1 in every 3 women have a problem speaking out about a serious issue. We are simply creating an opening for these conversations to happen to prove they are not alone. With the intentions for this project to empower women and not trigger victims, we reached out to VDAY, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. Watermark is incredibly honored to have gained VDAY’s support on this project. We are eager to gather the support of other organizations and the opportunity to work together in hopes to turn this into its own movement.

We are proud to also be a in partnership with International Women's Day on Indiegogo. We hope to bring awareness globally to the issues women face and feel that International Women's Day will help us tell our stories. 

THE IMAGERY

Each film addresses a specific issue using imagery through the adaptation of the classic fairy tales of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and The Evil Queen. Each story will be told through the power of imagery versus dialog. These problems women face are just as universal as the fairytales that have been translated into every language for centuries. These are not the happily-ever-after bedtime stories and these are not issues easily talked about, so Watermark Pictures wants to bring awareness through the power of film.

THE MUSIC

The inspiration behind choosing to adapt these 5 classic fairytales came from the following Florence And The Machine songs: “What the Water Gave Me”, “Blinding”, “Howl”, “No Light No Light” and “Breathe of Life”. A significant portion of the budget is to acquire licensing rights.

There are many hidden costs that go into producing even the simplest projects. Some of these costs include:
