“...every fibre of his being screamed at him to confess.
But man is more than fibre and he found that he could not.”
We've got a fantastic story to tell. No gimmicks, just a great tale. We know that because over 60,000 thousand downloads and 500 amazing reviews tell us that. We're making a film adaptation of First and Only, a best selling novel by Peter Flannery.
Brilliant
A very good book, I enjoyed it and so far I haven't got it back as it is being passed around family and friends who also love it. Would make a great film!
Make a film of this book somebody!
Absolutely loved this book from the start. It really is the best read of the year for me. Well done Peter, now get cracking with the next one!
It's the story of a man with exceptional gifts. He's brilliant, handsome, and going to die at the end of the week. He has to, he's foreseen it, and it's the only way to stop a killer. The story features a real life million dollar test to see if he has true psychic abilities, it has governments trying to chase him down and an adrenaline pumping climax.
A short mood film
To give you a flavour of some of what we have in mind for the film, take a look at this little mood film.
The cast
We haven't finalised the cast yet, in fact part of what makes this film unique is that we've asked established and emerging talent to register for an open casting call.
Grab one of our favourite perks
We've got great perks from movie downloads to hoodies but here's a few we think stand out as being that bit different.

We’re really excited about this reward. Apart from a special credit in the film, we’ll give you access to a private social network site for First and Only. You will be able to contribute and help shape the film. For example, you'll be able to see scripts and castings as well as first edits of the scenes as they come out of the edit suites. You'll be able to comment and even vote on the content.

We’ll be asking for your opinion and thoughts. This will put our backers right at the heart of the production process. Ultimately the production team will always call the final shots but we'll be listening to feedback and ideas. We believe this is a first for any crowdfunding campaign or feature film, putting our backers at the heart of the filmmaking process.

How your money will be spent
In this initial period we're looking to raise £50,000. Simply put, the more we raise and the more people who show their support, the sooner we can bring the film to the silver screen. Our general timescale for entering into filming will be August of 2015.
Your £50,000 will be used to:
Develop and complete the script based on the book
Enter into pre-production
Create a comprehensive prospectus to bring on further investment
Film the opening of the film
What we will give in return:
A unique insight into film production
Regular backers updates with written blogs and pictures from the project
While we would love to raise the whole amount by crowdfunding we are expecting to have to use additional funds from co-productions, EIS share initiatives and national creative grant schemes such as through Creative Scotland and the BFI. There are also tax incentives from the UK government which will make every penny go further.
The amount of funds we raise will directly dictate the action sequences we can include in our film and how we go about tackling certain key scenes. The more we raise the more options and scenes we can have.

We also believe in developing new talent. Our experienced team of production professionals will support and mentor younger filmmakers that are interested in getting into movies.
Trust, risks and challenges
So you might not have backed a crowdfunded project before, or if you did nothing was ever delivered. On top of that, movies are expensive… so how do you know we will deliver?
• The people involved in this project have already been successful whether making award winning videos, writing a best selling book, putting on stage shows or being in Oscar winning films! We’ve had to prove we can succeed and we have.
• We already know the infrastructure needed to make films and where additional film funding comes from. Whether it's via tax incentives, co-production or from the established creative bodies in the UK.
• Finally we’re committed to making this a success. A success that everyone involved can be part of.
As with any film production there are challenges and risks in bringing the project all the way to fruition. We've got an experienced team which will endeavour to make this project happen. It's already been in the planning stage for 6 months and all that groundwork is about creating a strong foundation to start production. We can't guarantee the film will make it all the way but we will give it our best shot and by spreading the cost across the crowd limits everyone's exposure to the risk.
