If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you’re more than a little curious. But are you ready to take a tumble?
Imagine Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, a multi-cultural theatre community, a touch of European history, an assortment of personal experience, and you’ll start to see what we have planned. But something’s missing, isn’t it? …Did we mention Alice goes to BERLIN?!
We are the English Community Theatre — an independent, non-profit, International amateur theatre group set up under the roof of English Theatre Berlin. After a successful performance of William Shakespeare’s ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in 2011, we are returning with more ambition, and we’re ready to stage our next show. This one is going to be VERY special.
After many months of rehearsals and hard work, we want to perform our interpretation of ALICE IN WONDERLAND, premiering in June 2012. For that, we need YOUR help!
Our Impact
Our Theatre Community is made up of a myriad of creative, talented people from a variety of different backgrounds. Our group has representatives from Germany, Greece, Sweden, Finland, Ukraine, Northern Ireland, America, Canada, and Romania. Importantly, we each have something in common — we've all followed our own White Rabbits to get to Wonderland, and we’ve all felt a little bit like ALICE ever since we arrived.

We want to promote Berlin as a vibrant and exciting place for English language theatre within continental Europe. We believe our play speaks on a level that every Auslander (foreigner) can relate to, especially in a city as diverse as ours. We want to entertain, we want to impress, and most of all… We want to tell YOU about OUR stories.

What We Need & What You Get
The English Theatre Berlin already offers us the possibility to rehearse and perform at their house for a small fee, as well as providing help with advertising for our shows and the company — but we would love to take our project further.
Here’s a financial breakdown of what we need:
A part of the costs for the production we will take from the ticket sales - what we need in addition, we have estimated like this:
4100 $ - Labor costs (personnel costs) for set designer, costume designer, make up artist, light designer, director's assistant, and camera people for the film elements.
2.400 $ - For material costs like set design, costumes, make up etc. as well as production costs for the film aspects.
2000 $ - For:
≃7 % - taxes
20% - advertising and financing the presents (giveaways) for your donations.
If we don’t reach the entire goal, we will make cuts according to the percentages we achieved - so the amounts will be cut percentagewise evenly.
If YOU support us, Wonderland has prepared a variety of surprises for you, ranging from personalised postcards, posters, printed T-Shirts and bags displaying our wonderful actors, an invitation to celebrate with us, a backstage tour of Wonderland and many, many others.
