Short Summary
Fox, a young adult in Orlando, FL, is disabled and in need of a service dog to become fully independent. Currently sleeping on a friend's couch, this early 20-something year old is not the type to ask for handouts and instead prefers to work for any assistance given. That is why we have started Fox's Fantasy, for it is their fantasy to make enough money selling their chainmaille crafts to support themselves and gain independence. However we can't get this started on our own!
What We Need & What You Get
You know the saying, "It takes money to make money," and this is very true for us here. To begin selling our chainmaille, we'll need to buy our supplies in bulk, set up branding for ourselves, register the business for tax purposes, and afford table fees at local conventions.
In return for helping us reach our goals, you'll be really storing up some sweet, sweet karma for yourselves. You'll be filled with joy knowing you're helping an unfortunate soul reach their simple goals. You'll also get some rad chainmaille gear that will be custom woven just for you!
If we don't reach our entire goal, we wont give up! Every last penny would still go right back into the company to sustain itself and we will focus on online sales and grow from there.
*Sorry, but we are unable to ship overseas unless you are able to pay for shipping.
The Impact
I'm not sure I'll ever be able to describe what giving someone hope looks like, but please know that this is making a huge difference in this kid's life. Even if you make just a $1 donation, that is one more person that believes in them, and that means the world.
Fox also fully intends to give back as much as they can to both the crowdfunding communities and other youth in need. The message, "It gets better" needs to be spread far and wide from people that have really struggled, and it can start here.
Risks & Challenges
Because of Fox's disabilities there will be days that they are unable to work as much due to days stuck in bed or extended stays in the hospital. However we have been quite generous in the amount of time we expect items to be finished. So more often than not customers will end up getting their items early!
We also worry that we wont reach our goal and wont be able to make as much on each piece due to not being able to buy in bulk. While this mean we wont be able to afford convention table fees, we will still be able to offer Fox's pieces on websites like Etsy.
Other Ways You Can Help
- Get the word out! Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. (Indiegogo has great built in share tools)
- Volunteer time, food, or clothing to your local youth (<24) shelter. This may not help us directly, but there are still lots of other kids out there that need the same hope!
