*IMPORTANT! Due to the generosity of recent supporters, we have exceeded our original goal. However, any additional funding beyond the $5,000 goal WILL STILL BE USED TOWARD THE CONURE AVIARY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT! The additional funds will be used to purchase the specialized construction materials including polycarbonate panels for the heated section and stainless steel mesh for the outdoor section. The more money raised, the sooner we can purchase those materials and the sooner we will finish the aviary. The birds can then benefit from an earlier move-in date!
Thank you all once again and let's keep this momentum going! For the birds!
An Introduction
Project Perry / The Central Virginia Parrot Sanctuary is one of only a small handful of accredited parrot sanctuaries located in the U.S. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and sanctuary of parrots living in captivity. Parrots are one of the most popular animals kept as companions to humans. The need for appropriate sanctuary environments for neglected and abused parrots has risen dramatically in the past decade. The Central Virginia Parrot Sanctuary works to construct suitable and appropriate natural cage-free environments for its permanent residents. You can help us achieve the next step in the construction of our new aviary for Conure Parrots!
What We Need
We broke ground in January of this year to construct a 1,250sq.ft. natural aviary specifically for Conures. The foundation was completed in February. We are seeking help from generous donors like yourself to raise the $5,000 needed to complete the next phase of the project - the steel frame and roof (labor included).
The Impact
Parrots live a long time - up to 80+ years for some of the larger species. Conures may live anywhere between 20 - 30 years on average. Their natural instincts such as destructive chewing and loud vocalizations make them very difficult to keep as pets in most people's homes. Often times these parrots are rehomed many times throughout their lives and unfortunately may end up in neglectful or abusive situations.
The Sanctuary continues to provide a safe place for parrots in need. Your help with this project will allow us to move forward and establish a natural and enriching environment for them to share with a flock of their own kind.
