Short Summary
Hi! Amy Braswell here. I'm the President of the Board of Directors for Abingdon Main Street, a non-profit community revitalization program. Abingdon is a beautiful historic town in the mountains of SW Virginia. My organization is coordinating the installation of our town's first public mural on the side of one of our downtown buildings. The mural brings together all the things that make our town unique: our history, charm, location, and our love for the arts and outdoor recreation. The mural is 50% complete and thus far, has been paid for with funds from the Town of Abingdon and grant funds from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and the VA Dept. of Housing and Community Development. Local businesses and organizations have also sponsored this project.
What We Need & What You Get
Our goal for this campaign is $5,000, although we really need a total of $10,000 to complete the mural. So, we hope to exceed our Indiegogo goal. We are offering some cool perks. Please note that perks will not be sent until the mural is 100% complete. Help us finish the mural!
The Impact
When you give to this campaign, you are helping to create a magical piece of art that tells the history of Abingdon in such a unique way. We intend to maintain the mural so that it will be here for many years to come, for your grandchildren and their great grandchildren to enjoy. The mural is in a public location, free for all to see, ponder and enjoy. We are still working on some great ideas to use the mural to educate viewers about each flowing pictorial banner in the mural.
