Alban - Of Whom the World Was Not Worthy
A life lived in devotion to Rome. A random, chance encounter. A final ultimatum.
A loyal Roman, living in the outskirts of the Empire in Britannia, comes face to face with a series of life-altering choices. His decisions will determine more than just his earthly fate.
Alban - Of Whom the World Was Not Worthy, will be a two-part radio production: a radio drama and radio documentary. The radio drama will focus on depicting the dramatic events of Alban's life and eventual death. The radio documentary will also focus on Alban, include interviews from historians and other experts, as well as take a more in-depth look at today's Christian martyrs, their lives, beliefs, and what makes them so radically unique...
Our goal is to have these radio productions disseminated to a vast listening audience through CD's, the internet, and radio stations across the country. However, if we do not reach our funding goal, we will not have the resources to proceed with this production.
Well...here we are again. My sister Meagan and I (Daniel), are super excited to be presenting this next radio production! Over the past 14 months, our team (gotta give a shout-out to our audio guy, Phil) has been down in the proverbial trenches hammering away at our first two radio dramas: My Fair Lady, and The Lost Elevator. To say we have learned much and seen a lot of improvement during these productions, would be a slight understatement! However, we don't want to rest on any laurels- we aim to push forward in the learning trend. By continuing to produce radio drama, we become more and more skillful and efficient in our craft. As we become more refined, the end product continues to increase in quality. Our goal is to pursue this upward trajectory of excellence- to tell powerful, creative, and redemptive stories that impact others!
Considering our last few productions (My Fair Lady, The Lost Elevator) have been mainly comedic, we realize that Alban - Of Whom the World Was Not Worthy, is a departure of sorts, as it takes on a more serious tone. Some of you may be wondering, Why the departure from your normal? There are many different categories of stories- comedy, drama, tragedy, etc. They're all great and serve different purposes. However, we as storytellers believe that to focus solely on the comedic not only neglects the other genres, but also diminishes the the value and appreciation for comedy itself. How can we truly appreciate comedy, if we are never gripped by a dramatic story, or a production that deals with some tragedy? To be real storytellers, we choose to tell the many different aspects of human emotion and nature.
We wouldn't classify the story of Alban as a tragedy, but more of a drama. One of the reasons we are choosing to pursue this story was because of the challenge it gives us as "Christians" living in the United States. Alban's faith was real. He was committed to following Christ no matter the cost. The same can be said of any other Christian martyr. Sure we can say that we would do the same, given their circumstances, but would we really? Would you? Hardly any of us living in the U.S. are faced with life and death matters regarding following Christ, but we are nonetheless faced with choices to follow Him in other everyday matters. Really then, the question isn't "What would we do?" but, "What do we do?"
Alban - Of Whom the World Was Not Worthy, will be our biggest production yet- by a long shot! Because we will be more than doubling the sizes of our previous radio dramas, we are asking for $3,500 to complete this project. No one is going to get rich from this- that's not why we are asking for your support for this project. We want to create this, because we are passionate about the messages this story has to offer, and believe it's relevant to Christians and non-Christians alike. The more funds we get, the more resources we will have to reach others. So, We are asking for $3,500 not to line our pockets, but to help defray the many inevitable costs of tackling a production of this magnitude.
PLEASE NOTE: If we don't meet our fundraising goal of at least $3,500 by May 20th, we wont receive a penny. It's all or nothing. Indiegogo will not charge your credit card if we are not 100% successfully funded. If we raise anything over our goal, it will go towards making the radio double feature better, as well increasing our marketing efforts to reach more people
