When something bad happens to us in life we always ask “Why me?” But what if we really stopped and asked “WHY ME?”
Georgia Van Cuylenburg is a young Australian Comedian who currently lives in Hollywood California. Her life goal has always been to change the world – one smile at a time. In 2007 Georgia suddenly lost all of her hair and was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. For the first time in her life she found it hard to smile. Rather than hiding away, choosing an easier career and giving in to her disorder Georgia decided to go loud and proud. She allowed cameras into her daily life to experience what it is like to be a woman, specially one who relies on her appearance to make a living, and to loose one’s hair. She shared her tears, her pain and her triumphs. And she put them all together into one film to show the world how she learned that life is not about the hair on your head, it is about the lessons you learn the friends you find and the difference you can make.
Over 5 million people in the USA alone are affected by Alopecia. This film is being made for all of them, adults and children alike!
Shooting for the film began in 2008 and principal photography wrapped February 2010. With our amazing team we were able to capture all the moments we needed to make this special film.
During the last three years we have been contacted by thousands of people, who have seen the trailer, wanting to know where they can watch the whole film. We were contacted by Oprah’s production company – wanting to know if they could use the film on her show. This continuing interest kept us going – we knew this was a film that needed to be finished.
But now that we have all of our footage we need to edit it together. We want our quality of post-production to duly represent the phenomenal work of our cast and crew.
So we are turning to the Alopecia community, friends, fans, anyone that understands what it is like to look in the mirror and not recognize what you see, and those who want to help make a difference to millions of people lives.
Please spread the word about this special film by helping us fund the remainder of the project as well as pressing any of the share buttons…every little bit counts…and by sharing this with your friends you are doing something so BIG!
