My name is Judah and I have a dream. A wild idea and burning passion for launching the next frontier in biking: water biking.
With two-thirds of our planet's surface covered by water and nearly one BILLION bikes in use around the world, the next evolution in biking has finally arrived. From gliding on glassy waters to jumping ocean waves, water biking combines the joy, adventure and health benefits of biking with the dynamic terrain of water. It also can provide a new form of sustainable and affordable alternative for hundreds of millions of people around the world who otherwise sit in traffic on bridges and tunnels for hours each day. Crossing the Hudson river into New York City takes just 15 minutes. There are many cities around the world separated by similar bodies of water than can easily be biked!
It might be hard to imagine that one water biking will be an Olympic sport and mass form of transportation. But then again, mountain biking, which is a multi-billion dollar global sport and industry today, only started in the late 1960s. Ten years later, sales of mountain bikes surpassed that of road bikes. I am going to do the same thing with water biking.
But here's the challenge. Right now there is no water bike "kit" which can attach to any bike regardless of frame size or construction. My goal is to create a 21st century, modern, easy-to-use, compact system that works universally with any of the one billion bikes on the planet to enable riding on the water.
If BayCycle Project meets its funding goal of $50,000 by the end of the campaign, we will unlock another $50,000 of funds, free resources and labor! This will enable us to begin design and development of a new water bike model and ecosystem that will change the face of biking and transportation forever!
Because the ride doesn't end at the water's edge...
Judah

San Francisco is known for its thriving bike
culture, supporting hundreds of thousands of avid riders. Whether for
commuting, adventure, performance, health, or tourism, biking is engrained in the
city’s culture. And yet, there’s something missing: There is no bike lane that connects the residents of the East Bay to San Francisco. Although the new Bay Bridge has
recently opened, it will take another $500 million and at least a decade to
retrofit the western span of the bridge with a bike lane. The only way to
actually ride a bike across the Bay, I realized, is on water. And not just in San Francisco but around the globe, there are so many places where water has been a barrier to bikers instead of playground. That's when inspiration struck!
I knew that I had to attempt the first ever crossing of the SF Bay bike. It was something I had to do - for myself, for my kids whom I raise as a single dad, and for people everywhere who just love to bike. The time had come to send shock waves throughout the world of biking and show people a new way to enjoy cycling for sport, recreation, transportation and health.
