![About Our Fundraiser About Our Fundraiser]()
The
BC Superfriends host events where anyone can be their geeky selves regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. We are bringing queer geek fabulousness to Vancouver Pride 2013 with the Parade's first ever queer geek cosplay float. This fundraiser will help pay for the costs of our float as well as awesome queer-positive geek events and parties.

The money raised from this IndieGogo campaign will help pay for Pride fees, rentals, equipment, decorations, and supplies. If we hit our goal and beyond, we will be able to bring the most fabulously badass float possible to the Parade, as well as be able to host multiple geek parties and events throughout the year.
Our Pride Parade entry is about visibility, creativity, and celebration. We love being queer geeks and we are certainly looking forward to sharing that with the hundreds of thousands of Vancouver Pride attendees.
Our Pride Geek Party,
Rainbow's End, will be held at EXP Restaurant + Bar on Sunday, August 4th at 4pm. Attendees will be able to enjoy specialty drinks, participate in a Cosplay contest, and test their RPG skills for prizes!
Supporting the BC Superfriends definitely comes with its perks. Our tier prizes range from original swag, to event tickets, to coveted spots on our Pride Parade float, and VIP access to all BC Superfriends events for a full year. Our swag is being designed by some of Vancouver's hot geeky graphic designers and is only available to supporters of this campaign.
The BC Superfriends are entirely volunteer-driven and all proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the creation of fantastic safe spaces for queer geeks.
At geek events, parties, conventions, and especially online, it can be really easy to run into discriminatory language or behaviour. While these comments may not be directly targeted towards someone they stop these places from feeling fun and safe.
Safe Spaces are events and venues where anyone can relax and be themselves without fear of harassment or discrimination. Creating Safe Spaces takes a lot of time. It requires communication, education, and sometimes simply being present in order to dispel stigma and fear associated with queer persons.
![Why Allies Are Important Why Allies Are Important]()
Our generation of queers recognizes that we have many straight allies who totally accept us for who we are. And some of them feel as strongly about creating safe spaces as we do. Which is why we celebrate our allies as well as our fellow queers.
