What is the Bell Foundry?
The Bell Foundry is a collectively run art space, public performance area, recreational park, and private musical rehearsing studio located in Baltimore, Maryland. It houses screen-printing facilities, artist studios, band practice spaces, a community garden and skate park. The basement is the most recognizable of all sections of The Bell Foundry because of its diverse underground music community. The space has become increasingly popular due to its inclusive attitude. Over the past 3 years it has fostered a network of musicians and art enthusiasts nationwide and internationally. It continues to be recognized as a safe space for freedom of expression for local musicians.
What is the project?
In order to improve upon what the space currently offers and expand what it can offer in the future, the Bell Foundry must undergo renovations to meet all applicable fire code regulations. Specifically, the Bell Foundry is looking to renovate the basement which acts as private music studios and will act as a performance space. We aspire to become a respected Station North Arts District community facility in Baltimore City. These positive changes will help us provide a safe environment that can be enjoyed by the arts community.
Why do we need support? / What do donations go toward?
In order for the bell foundry to grow and re-launch the basement, we are looking to reach the goal of $4000 in community supported donations. These donations will go towards the purchase of building materials including (but not limited to) additional emergency exits, emergency lighting, electrical wiring, lumber, fire extinguishers, railings, screws, and nails. Without these materials the Bell Foundry will not be able to continue to host events and performances due to Baltimore City code regulations. Donations would go directly into providing renovations to comply with legal requirements and fulfill the Bell's aspirations of becoming more than just a multi-use space, but a nucleus for an infinite number of interactions and experiences.

The Bell Foundry asks for the support of donors to aid in this pivotal step in the space's mission to expand. Anyone who has visited the space knows; The Bell Foundry is a hub for a variety of different projects both big and small. The building turns no one away, provides all-ages events, and serves as a location where original art can be created and viewed by many different kinds of people. It fosters the Baltimore music scene by providing an independent outlet for bands to develop and connect with a wide range of audiences. With this fundraising campaign, The Bell Foundry aims to continue as a supportive entity to musicians, artists, friends, and enthusiasts alike.
