We're on a mission to bring about a change in the way we buy - a change that moves us away from mass-production, towards a more local, ethical, sustainable and better form of consumer culture, where everything can be tailored to you - the technology and knowhow are here, so it's time. All our products are made in-house from locally sourced materials by a small team of designers and craftspeople using tradional and modern technologies together - we're offering personalization not just because we can, but as a way to add meaning to these things beyond their look and function. This, coupled with great natural materials, a focus on quality, and local production mean we'll be able to buy less and get more for our money in the long run.

How it works

We've designed and made a range of products that can be personalized uniquely for you or anybody else. On the right hand side, you'll see a range of perks at varying prices. These all correspond to the detailed descriptions & photos below, where you can see exactly how you can customize each item.

A real wooden protective backing for your iPhone 4/4S or 5, custom engraved to your specifications. Choose from American Walnut, Cherry or Maple. So thin you won't notice it's there - jealous onlookers definitely will. Easily applied to the back glass face of your phone using a hi-tack / no-residue adhesive tape in only a few seconds. There is a great selection of fonts to choose from, if you choose text as a customization option. When it comes to laying it out, you'll be given a range of options again, such as justification/alignment (in some cases), otherwise you'll also be able leave it to our Graphic Designers to work their magic. Please note that not all fonts have all regular punctuation and extras - please limit your text to only the most common when necessary i.e !@$&%#*. Numbers are available in each font, however fonts listed in capitals do not have lower-cases.

You’ll have plenty of different monogram options to choose from once the campaign ends and we send out surveys. You’ll be able to choose the font and a maximum of 3 letters to be made into a stylish looking mark by our talented Graphic Designers. Logos & Artwork

If you plan to use a logo/artwork or graphic on one of the rewards, please be aware that there are certain guidelines you'll need to follow, and not everybodys graphic will be suitable straight away. The most common issue people may encounter is having too much detail in their graphic - we'll clearly explain this when you place your order, but as a rule of thumb, refer to all our images above to get an idea of the maximum detail we're capable of and try to imagine your artwork on the products above when viewed from an arms-length away - if you can't make something out then chances are it's too detailed. We require Hi-resolution images in black & white (monochrome) Bitmap format. We'll provide extensive instructions and visual tutorials on how to convert your graphic into this form when we send out your online order form, but really it's not that difficult - Microsoft Paint can even do this for you.

Taking & Processing Backers Orders

At the end of the campaign, we'll send each backer an online form specific to their pledge product. This form will contain all the necessary fields that will help them tailor their order exactly, and will include all the "Options" listed in the reward sections above, specific to each reward. In many cases there will be even more options to choose from, such as text alignment, size, location and some fancy extras! You'll be able to attach any necessary logos/artwork via this form too, and all options will be clearly represented visually with examples of "Option A vs Option B". This online order form system is something we've used for a long time, so we know it works. All are already created and ready to go, and take about 5 minutes to fill out.

Our Story

We've been making things for people for years now through our existing business "Bespoke Laser Sydney", but we recently realized that there was more to what we were doing than just servicing locals - we could do the same thing for people everywhere. We took some of the most common and best things we were asked to build and made them into the template products you see above. If this project is successful, we'll fulfil all the orders, make sure everybody is happy, then think about our next move - we're using this campaign as a way to test our theory that others are looking for the kind of service we provide - hopefully it's not just a hunch!

We're embarking on one of the biggest Indiegogo campaigns yet, don't let our funding goal fool you. Technology is at the stage where the costs that large corporations were saving from mass production are becoming easily achieved by small businesses - conceiving a new wave in production called mass customization. We want to prove that no matter how many orders we get, we can personalize each individual one just for you. By not branding our designs, we're not passing those marketing costs on to you, and allowing you to cherish something more meaningful.

Why Indiegogo?

Some people have asked why we don't just make an online store and be done with it.. well truth be told, we don't know for sure if this is something people are really looking for - being based in Australia (total population of only 23 million) it's difficult to overcome the geographical isolation and prove whether something like this is worth the effort. In addition, we don't have the time or funds to do so. For this to work, and for us to be able to slow our regular business to have the time for something bigger, we need that initial volume that only a crowdfunding campaign can provide. We're a small, young team (5 people on-and-off, our oldest is 25), so just spending the time to create this campaign is already a gamble, and we're all in. In addition, we want to gain that volume to be able to scrutinize our suppliers and doubly ensure the materials we use are good for people and the environment. Any extra funds we raise will be put towards making our current systems more efficient and again, better for people & the environment. One day we'd love to operate out of the US. If successful here, we will look to seek extra capital to expand only once all of our backers are taken care of.

We've personally been on the receiving end of some terribly run crowdfunding campaigns and we're often left wondering where the money went - not this time. We've set our prices at a point that covers our costs and gives enough space to be able to expand to just the point where we will ensure orders are fulfilled quickly, and all enquiries/concerns/issues are dealt with - we plan to run an exceptional campaign right up to the last order - we'll spend what it takes to ensure that.

Risks & Challenges 

In terms of our ability - we already produce similar items for our clients at Bespoke laser (http://www.bespokelaser.com/) - our custom laser cutting studio that has been operating successfully in Sydney for over a year. We have two laser cutters, a fully equipped workshop, a team of 5 who can operate everything expertly, and a strong operational system in place to handle orders. We have combined years of experience in product design and manufacturing, especially for laser cutting. We know exactly how to make all of these products - and we control all aspects of the production from our Sydney studio. Every single product you see above was produced in our workshop by us - at the current funding target, we can fulfil that amount of orders within the space of about 5 weeks without needing to change or up the way we currently operate or our rate of output.

That being said, we may experience a significant increase in volume past our stated goal. We have planned for this, and many combinations of scenarios. We already have contingency plans in place that include the lease of additional space in Sydney, the purchase and operation of additional laser cutters and machinery. In addition, we're already part of a strong community of local manufacturers here in Sydney that we can call on to assist if all else fails.

Our materials suppliers are all competent, aware and reliable, eliminating the risk of materials shortfalls. We will be processing orders as soon as we reach our funding target to reduce lead time.
