Hello !!
We are filmmakers from Sydney - Peta from Cool White Bunnie Productions and Lisa from u n me films.
We are making a series of observational documentaries about the amazing people who play Bridge.
At the Canberra Summer Festival of Bridge in January, we met Betty and we want to tell her story!
Help us !!
We are offering some great perks - film credits, dvds, even your own Web Site !!
Betty's story juxtaposes two unlikely worlds.
Betty is 81, an avid player and teacher of Bridge. She loves travelling to Bridge tournaments in Australa and New Zealand.
When at home, in Darwin, Betty regularly visits a local youth detention centre and teaches Bridge to some of the inmates - mostly indigenous boys and girls aged 14 to 18.
We have permission to film Betty teaching her students in the detention centre.
Over the next year or more we will follow the stories of the students and Betty.
Could learning bridge make a big difference to someone's life? We want to find out.
We need some funds for the first Darwin shoot. To do this story justice, we want to hire a top camera person and sound recordist. We do not plan to pay ourselves - we are volunteering our time as producer and director. But we need funds to cover airfares, accommodation, vehicle hire and crew costs. Anything over from this campaign will go to the next shoot.
The People who play Bridge series will not only introduce some great characters and stories to the screen, it will also show the world the health and social benefits of the amazing, addictive and competitive game of Bridge.
We would be so grateful if you can help us get to Darwin to film Betty's story. Also, tell your friends and like the People who play Bridge project on Facebook at
Thank you!
Peta and Lisa
