Who is BLUNT?
Blunt Youth Radio is a youth radio project based in Portland, Maine. Every week, we create a live show from scratch-- hosting, producing and engineering-- taking on topics that interest us, from our own perspectives.
What this fundraiser's about:
We’re raising money to fund an epic trip to the Digital Waves Youth Media Festival in NYC. Not only is the festival an awesome opportunity to meet other youth producers, learn from professionals, and hone our craft as media makers-- but we’ve also been invited back to host our signature event-- the Media Slam.
Blunt member Iris SanGiovanni tells us what a media slam is, and how we came up with this brilliant idea: “Well, we were just talking about how there’s really no part of radio that’s like a live event, that has an audience. For instance, like a poetry slam. Lightbulb Moment! Why don’t we do an Audio Slam?”
Our first Audio Slam was a big hit at the Great North East Radio Rally in 2011. Digital Waves asked us to host one last year, and now we’re back at it, only this time instead of just audio, it's going to be a Multi-Media Slam.
But not without your help!
In order for us to have this incredible, life changing experience, and spread the genius of live and interactive media that is the Media Slam, we need to bus a crew of Blunters down to NYC, pay for lodging, and maybe even feed ourselves while we’re there.
To show our deep gratitude for any help you can give, we’re offering some awesome perks. Any little bit helps, no amount is too small. You can help too, by spreading the word about our campaign.
