Background & Synopsis
Breath of Heaven is an original motion picture written by Kathryn Furrow.
The idea for the project came to Furrow on a family vacation to New Orleans more than 20 years ago. It was then when she wrote what would be the first 5/8ths of the screenplay. They story of Elisabeth, Earnst, and Jean morphed from Untitled stage play to novel, and then back to stage play – never quite finding it’s voice or the proper ending. Nearly 15 years later, as her feet stepped along the cobblestones of Perry Street in New York City, these people who began to breathe life on the page so many years before finding how their story would end. It wasn’t until 4 years after the ending had been conceived that Furrow was encouraged by her college friend and business partner to turn the stage play into a screenplay, and adopted its final title Breath of Heaven.
Breath of Heaven is at its core a love story. Against the backdrop of 1850’s New Orleans and New York, we experience the lives of three friends who find that the traditional setting of a love triangle becomes even more complicated when dealing with honor and virtue in polite society. Love stories come and go, but one thing is certain – love is timeless and audiences simply can’t get enough.
The film reminds us that love is an echo. It is in the memory of a touch, a sound, and a glance. It is in the blaring peace that invades the soul; it is in the disturbing silence of a moment of fear. It can see through the hope of a tortured soul. It can blind itself by the whisper of attraction. These are the forms of love that Breath of Heaven explores, and that is what makes this particular film one that audiences will embrace.
Our creative team knows it is not enough to simply tell a love story. An audience must experience the story in a way that not only shows levels of love deeper than mere lust or desire, but the levels of love that stand the test of time. That is why we have assembled some of the best talent in the Kentuckiana area both on screen, and behind the camera.

What We Need & What You Get
The video you've just viewed was produced on a budget of $500. Just imagine what we will do when we reach our target goal - or more!
Through this Indiegogo Campaign, we will be funding our entire project budget, overseen by Ben Sapp, CPA of Account Mates of Jeffersonville, IN. By our creative partnerships and working locally, a period feature budget that would normally cost in the millions has been shaved down to $30,000 and ensures that all of the artists who are involved in this project will receive a contracted professional rate for their work. All funds raised over the $30,000 will be split up and divided among the artists’ fees and contracts, paid out as a bonus once the film is in picture lock.
- This project has been tagged as an “international grassroots project”. The motion picture, while regional in location, currently involves artists in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.
- Film will provide more than 35 artists around the world (from technical crew to cast) employment for the period of filming and post-production.
- Film will be submitted to all major international film festivals, including (but not limited to):
- Cannes, Toronto, TriBecca, Sundance, South by Southwest, Palm Springs, Stilletto
Our perks include a variety of production memorabilia, mention in the credits of the feature and both on the FYL Entertainment and Breath of Heaven movie websites, social media shout outs, chances to mingle with the cast and crew at the official premiere, and opportunities for funders to appear as guests in specific scenes of the feature.
The Impact
Projects like Breath of Heaven, works of art that creatives have cultivated over years of hard work and experience, abound across the globe. Our goal with this film is to not only create a quality work that can be enjoyed for years to come, but to show that projects like this are not impossible outside of the studios of the major film markets - that it is possible for anyone, with the support of their global community and passion and drive, make a living with their dreams.
