Thanks for Your Interest
A lot of artists are using crowdfunding for their CD projects these days, some far more established than me. The fact is, most indie CDs never even recover the investment but if you want to be taken seriously as an artist you have to keep putting out new music.
I had a great experience in crowdfunding when I broke the headstock off my beloved old Epiphone guitar a couple of years ago and it was suggested that I make an appeal through IndieGogo to get it repaired (it was an expensive repair and I couldn't afford it myself). Anyway, I made my appeal, I raised $1200, the guitar was repaired and I am soooo grateful to have my baby back and she will be prominently featured on the new recording.
I wondered aloud back then if these folks would have been so quick to donate to a new Brian Blain recording as they were to rescue a damaged instrument...Well, we'll find out now. With so much music coming out these days, I can only hope this old blues guy should get your support versus all those eager, hard-working young artists whose career is mostly ahead of them,
But I do have supporters, and I see them in the audience with a big smile on their face so I'm encouraged to keep putting my music out there. I haven't been gigging very much, and maybe my touring days are winding down (I've got a song about that, too), but the creative juices are still flowing and as long as there are folks out there who want to hear my music, I will keep putting it out.
If you prefer to contribute without going through IndieGogo, send your donation to Brian Blain, 326 Woodfield Road, Toronto, ON M4L 2X1 or e-transfer brianblain@brianblain.ca (and a big thank you to my first direct donor, Alice Brock of Provincetown, Mass)
If you're not able to contribute financially, but still want to lend your support, please consider these no-cost initiatives:
Blainreader - subscribe to the (mostly monthly) Blainletter by going to brianblain.com
Blainfollower - find me on Facebook or Twitter and give me a "like" and check out my blog, www.torontobluesdiary.com
and, please forward the IndieGogo link to any mutual friend you think might want to help out.
Thanks, Merci, Muchas Gracias and see you out there,
BrianB (aka Stringbuster, Butch, Nappy, Shaker, Two-Lane Blain, Colorblind Brian, Buddha of the Blues)
