The scent of lilac fills the air, days are getting longer and sunnier and every neighborhood in Milwaukee is a blanket of green grass and dandelions. Summer is almost here and our kids can’t wait. Through the cold wind and snow, they’ve been anxiously looking forward to those three precious months. They’re eager to break free of their classrooms, play outside with their teachers and go for afternoon walks around the neighborhood in their favorite red Bye Bye Buggy. But last week, our kids heard the sad news that this summer won’t be the same at Penfield…
our Bye Bye Buggy is broken.
For more than 10 years, our big red plastic friend has served us well, but time has taken its toll. The brakes that once safely controlled the buggy and its precious cargo are now stuck, making it hard for the teachers to push and unsafe for the city sidewalk. The front wheel that once rolled our kids joyfully through the neighborhood is now off its rim and impossible to move. The seat belts are worn and twisted and its smooth and comfortable ride has turned hard and bumpy. It is time to say “bye, bye” to our beloved Buggy.
After waiting patiently all winter long, we can’t bear the thought of our kids missing out on one of their favorite warm weather activities. You can help make their summer dreams come true by supporting our effort to bring back the Bye Bye Buggy. With a fund raising goal of $3,000, we will be able to purchase two brand new Buggies to escort even more kids safely and happily around the neighborhood. Don’t let our kids start the season Buggyless, please make a donation before the campaign ends on June 21 – the first day of summer.
