Do you love the 90s? Yeah – so do I.
My name is Ryan Casey
– I’m the writer and director of Gener’s People – a TV show pilot that is set
in the 90’s.
I have spent my life
writing fiction and bringing it to the screen.
Recently I took a hiatus from filmmaking and attained my Master’s in
Communication from the University of Hartford.
This past year – while
talking to cinematographer, David Sikora – I mentioned my idea for Gener’s People and didn’t think much of it – just a passing
conversation. The next day Dave was at
my doorstep demanding to shoot this. He
thought it was the most original and powerful original story he had ever heard.
Since then – We have
shot a short version (which you should watch on this page ...Right now!) and now we need your
help to fund a full pilot episode.
Everyone – both cast
and crew – worked and sweated hard for free for the shorter version. I poured my own money into the short and
paid for everything we needed. But we
all have rent to pay and need some more funds to pay for more crew, cast, and bigger locations.
Take a look at the short sample we did to see the quality we are bringing to the screen.
The story of Gener’s
People is also something you will help bring to life. It’s all set in the 90’s. My favorite decade--it was an era of jeans, the birth and death of grunge, and going to Blockbuster on a Friday night.
Gener's People is about a juice-bar and the struggles it
takes to get off the ground. It’s a time
when WholeFoods, Trader Joe’s and Sprouts are just getting off the ground. The word "organic" was thought to be a
paper-folding method. We’re going to
cover and explore that cultural paradigm shift – in a fictional world! And there’s major twist to our story – some
people have started to overindulge in the juice.
But I can’t go into more detail than that. Because yeah, it’s a spoiler.
This talented
independent cast and crew of struggling artists could use your help.
We have collected some
of the best performers in the northeast – pouring over 1,000 applications to
act in our project. We have collected
some of the best film production craftspeople in the northeast. Please help them complete their mission of
making a show that will break many boundaries and fill you with exhilaration
and awe.
And check-out my
personal track-record to lead this team – I have completed numerous shorts as well as a feature-length film (1 hr. 40 min,) called American Jubilee. All have been completely finished and shown at film
festivals. Many projects don’t get past
the shooting stage – but I get things done.
I’m a persistent Irish Jew.
Yeah I just wrote that.
