/// More About Us
![]()
We've already got our space (a 1500-square-foot loft in a former pencil factory... that's in in the photo above!) but right now it's a big, empty white box. We'll use the funds from this campaign to complete our last phase: to furnish our space, stock up on tools and supplies, and get ready to open our doors this fall for a full schedule of craft and DIY classes and events!
We promise that in return we'll give you crafty fun, DIY inspiration, and hands-on education! Including:
- Cool, modern classes on everything from sewing to printmaking, macrame to mixology, terrariums to knitting--taught by NYC's best authors, designers, bloggers and makers.
- A community of modern makers that centers around learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
- Special events, like bigger and better Craft Camps, author signings, workshops with visiting craft superstars from around the country, and more.
- A place for you to explore your passions, make things with your own two hands, be inspired, and build your skills.
- A great website where we'll share our content via online tutorials, videos, patterns, and more--so you can get in on the Brooklyn Craft Company action no matter where you live!

/// What We Need & What You Get
We've already secured our space and we're starting to line up classes this fall with some amazing designers, authors and makers from the NYC area. All we need now is to set up our classroom space so we can open our doors!
We've set our goal at $15,000. Here's how those funds will be used:
- Purchasing classroom tables, chairs, and additional furniture.
- Upgrading our lighting.
- Purchasing shelving and storage systems for our extensive tool library.
- Purchasing tools and supplies for classes, ranging from sewing machines to printing materials, and more.
- Offsetting operational costs (rent, electricity) until we open for business in September.
- Promoting our opening so that everyone will know about us!
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN:
In addition to our undying love and gratitude, you get a place to explore your creative passions, meet like-minded makers, and create great things with your own two hands. But we're also offering some great perks as our EXTRA way to say thank you. Check 'em out to the right, and keep scrolling down on this page to see photos!
/// Why Should You Contribute?
Here's why we think it's worth it for you to help us get off the ground:
-
Making things by hand just feels good. Nothing beats the experience of getting away from your computer, away from the stress of everyday life, and sitting down with happy people in a pleasant place to make something by hand. We want to help more people have more of that feeling, more often!
-
We want to help preserve traditional crafts while also embracing the future of the modern making movement. It's important to pass on these skills to each other, and the only way to do that is through teaching.
-
New York City is currently underserved in the craft-education area. While there are some great craft classes available here and there, we're lacking a go-to place for fun, modern, high-quality classes and events on a variety of DIY subjects--in a space that's large enough to spread out and stretch our creative muscles.
-
The great success of Brooklyn Craft Camp shows that makers in our area are hungry for fun, educational craft events--and we want to give it to them!
