These Animals Deserve Justice
The Calgary Humane Society has asked for help in identifying those responsible for the horrific case where a Siberian Husky was found dead, with her muzzle taped shut so that she couldn't eat, or even drink.
She is believed to have starved or dehydrated to death. In the same alley where her body appears to be dumped, a cat was also found with it's mouth taped shut, killed or left to die in the cold winter snow.
Our company, Vets To Go, has pledged a $5,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the monster who perpetrated this incredible abuse.
We've been inundated with people who want to help and support this cause, so we have created this project to allow you to help add to the reward being offered, as well as contribute funds for the fight to hold those who abuse animals responsible.
Where Your Contribution Goes
Every penny of funds we receive through contributions will go towards increasing the reward offered for the information that leads to a conviction, and to lobby for better protection of animals in the courts. Aside from the direct fees charged by this site (IndieGogo) and to process credit cards and facilitate this campaign, every penny raised will go to this effort.
If and when a suspect is arrested in this case, any funds raised beyond that point will then be utilized to help fund a lobbying effort to effect change in the Canadian laws related to animal abuse.
Vets To Go will be providing the initial $5,000 reward funds, along with some of the additional funds raised, to the Calgary Humane Society so that they can distribute the reward confidentially to the person who earns it. Obviously given the nature of this situation, we assume that the person who comes forward will not want to be publicly identified. It will be the Calgary Humane Society's role to manage that process, should someone come forward with information and become eligible for the reward.
As the campaign becomes more successful, this will also allow us to build funds to use for the strengthening and increased enforcement of the Canadian laws around animal abuse and cruelty.
It goes without saying that the laws in Canada, and how they're upheld, are wholly inadequate and offensive to every pet owner and animal lover. Our mission is to bring change to the Canadian legal system, so that those who undertake these types of horrific and active abuse face serious penalties and lengthy jail sentences. We're tired of seeing animal abusers let off as though they've been speeding or jaywalking. It's time for animal abusers to be held properly accountable.
