The Demo
There's a simple demo showing that an Open Web game like CQ is entirely possible on smart phones and tablets. Check it out here:

Casual Quest is a real-time cooperative game that you can play on your Smart Phone, Tablet, or PC - any device with a modern web browser. The project is based on the idea that everyone deserves good games with positive human representation. The notion that only manly men get to play with human characters, and the rest of us get to match abstract candies and jewels, needs to end. (And if you're a manly man, you deserve better than the same grouchy 30-year-old military protagonist in every game).
That why Casual Quest offers solid gameplay with a cast of 12 characters focused on delivering humanity and diversity. That's also why it's designed to play equally well on your smart phone or computer (in case you don't have the latest gaming console).
In short, Casual Quest is designed for everyone - by keeping in mind those ignored by the game industry.
Your contribution will make possible:
- Continuous hosting of the game world and website, so everyone can find and play the game together.
- The commission of graphics, music, and other game assets from independent artists.
- Time the developer can devote to finishing and publishing the game.
- A positive game space anyone can play in for free.
Funding Milestones
The basic programming (the game engine) is already complete, and there has been a lot of play testing. Any money raised will go toward publishing some version of the game. If we reach our $4,000 goal there will be enough funds to complete the programming and commission enough music and graphics to complete a baseline version. There will also be enough funds to host the game for several months while other means of funding are explored. Funds raised over our goal will go toward making the experience richer, with better character and enemy art, more and varied music, and more game content. It'll also keep the servers running longer. If we reach around the $8,000 level it will be possible to complete the game as envisioned.
