We know that there are a lot of situations that a power outlet or USB port are just not available, or maybe you happen to forget to charge your battery pack overnight? Fortunately, nowadays almost EVERYONE has an iPhone. All that energy, just waiting to charge your empty iPhone…

There are a lot of charging solutions out there: chargers based on sunlight, movement, thermoelectric effect, external battery and juice pack cases. Each one is restricted by various constraints. While some require sunlight, others need to be pre-charged.

What's ChargeBite constraint you ask?

ChargeBite just needs 2 friends! No precharging, no cables and no other special requirement.

Whether you're in a pub, hanging out with some friends, eating at a restaurant or relaxing on the beach, as your iPhone runs out just look in the eyes of your responsible friends and smile embarrassedly… They'll probably agree to share some good ol' precious energy if you ask them nicely :)

We spent a lot of time and effort perfecting ChargeBite's design. We wanted ChargeBite to not only be pactical and effective but also beautiful and elegant. A device you'll be happy to attach to your keychain. 

The design is fashionable, modern and with 3 available color combinations, fits the style and personality of every user. With a diameter of little more than a golf ball and less than half of an inch thick, ChargeBite is small and light enough to easily fit in your pocket.

Since the day we first thought about a social charging solution, it was obvious that efficiency optimization is critical. Here's how we imp­roved along the way:

• The first design had 5% to 15% efficiency, which means having to take 15% from each charging iPhone in order to gain 5% battery – ouch.
• A lot of reassessment led to changing the concept of our circuitry completely, enhancing the efficiency to 5% to 10%.
• further development and were already at  5% to 8%.

After some research we concluded that 5% to 5% is ideal.

We expect serial production to make the efficiency even better, so we'll get even closer to the ideal efficiency, but being good engineers means always seeking for a better solution. So we decided not to rely only on production, and budget some of the funded money just for improving the efficiency rate.

A robber pulls out a gun on someone in the street and says: "your money or your life." The man replies: "I'm an engineering student; I have no money and no life…" were just a couple of engineers that got tired watching our family and friends get stuck without battery, constantly looking for power outlets, begging to borrow a call from everybody… we knew there had to be a better way! 

We both have more than 5 years' experience in the industry, Liran as an electrical engineer and Asaf as a mechanical engineer.

We knew when we started this project, giving our backgrounds, that we will really complement each other's capabilities and were really excited about the results!

We have proven the concept, built working prototypes and determined our production plans.

The next step is perfecting the design and starting serial production of ChargeBite. That means plastic molds, dies, material, circuit boards, packaging, and delivery… pretty expensive stuff. We will use the funding from Indiegogo to begin serial production and bring a beautiful new ChargeBite right to your door.

It's obvious what we get from your generous contribution. We get to see our vision realized – starting serial production and providing as many users as possible a device that we believe will make their iPhone experience much more enjoyable.
