Help Us Send Books to
Our First School
Library in Zambia, Africa
“For everyone, everywhere, literacy is, along with education
in general, a basic human right.... the road to human progress and the means
through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full
potential.”
~ Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General
Who We Are
14+ Foundation (www.14plusfoundation.org)
is a USA-based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that was founded in June 2012
to develop and build schools and orphanages for African children in rural
communities.
Our first project is the Chipakata Children’s Academy (www.chipakata.org), created to serve as a
community-based, multifunctional facility that includes a primary school for grades
1 to 7. The student population of the
school will include local orphans and vulnerable children from the Chipakata
community, whose nearest school is currently more than 7 km away.
It is a proven fact that higher levels of literacy are
associated with the availability of classroom libraries with a sufficient
quantity of books, providing children with the opportunity to read. 14+ Foundation has a committee dedicated to
developing a library for the Chipakata Children’s Academy. Our goal is to obtain approximately 2,400
books, purchase a shipping container and transport these books to Zambia,
Africa.
To oversee the development and operation of the Chipakata
Children’s Academy, the directors of 14+ Foundation created the Chipakata
Children’s Academy Foundation, a Zambian-based NGO, who will ensure that the
finances provided by 14+ Foundation are used for the intended purpose.
