Cogas is a short stop motion animation film. It's a dark tale that mixes together fantastical elements, from traditional sardinian fairytales, with a dark, haunted twist. It's a film about appearances, and how you should never, ever trust them...
THE STORY
In the outskirts of a modern-day town, lives a witch. She is a coga, a race of vampire witches with long tails, forced to suck blood from newborn babies in order to survive. Old and tired, the witch relies on her blood supplies to survive, but now there's no more blood left. She has to face again her thirst and go hunting again. But the witch is not considering that her future victim might not be that easy to catch.
STYLE
Cogas is a mixture of old wood, dark trees, full moon nights and blood drops, and its visual style takes inspiration from sardinian traditional arts and crafts and from an extensive research on dark fantasy and horror villains' traditional representations.
The dark and moody atmosphere is reached through stop motion puppets with very graphical features and extensive use of digital techniques. The film also has an extensive use of motion graphics, that will be used at the beginning as a narrated intro for the film itself.
CREATOR
My name is Michela Anedda, I'm a sardinian animator , currently MA Animation student at Edinburgh College of Art. I studied and worked as an animator before, specializing in multitechniques approach to animation, and mixing together hand drawn traditional animation, clay motion and digital animation such as motion graphics and CGI.
Cogas puts together my experiences and my passion for details. I'm also creating the sets and the puppets for the animation, and I have been working on the film preproduction for a year. Sets now are nice and solid and puppets are ready to be moved!
An that's where you people come in...
YOUR HELP
Cogas is a very time consuming project. It takes a very long time to animate the puppets, and the production will approximately take about two months. I am very lucky to have access to high-end facilities here in my school for post-production but that's not enough.
That's why I need your help. As written before, Cogas requires a lot of work for integrating digital effects with the stop motion animation. The money I 'm asking for will be used to fund post-production (especially digital fx) for which I need help. In this way Cogas will be, hopefully, finished by september and I'll be able to send it to as many festivals as possible.
With your help Cogas can become a really nice little film and you will be proud of having been part of making it possible!
Every small donation can help, and if you can't donate, help me sharing the campaign on facebook, so that more people know about it.
Thanks again!
