Well, this was eventful and all kinds of awesome so thank you all very much, nothing else I can say but to hope that you all enjoy the perks, which we will fulfill in due course once we finish filming, (apart from those to be enjoyed during filming of course), and that we will now endeavour to make this film the way that it should be made.
I must re-iterate that without you guys, this campaign and all the support it would never have happened. I completely under estimated the costs and just 'went for it' in august for the first block to see what happened, and then decided to open my eyes...which was definitely an experience, sink or swim.....so....let's make a fucking movie.
**************************************************************
There is a little bit of confusion because Indiegogo very unhelpfully do not let you separate any of the perks etc, it's all a bit annoying, but the new perks of $30 for the interview questions, for the poetry reading and the skype chit chat ARE NOT now simply added on to perks for people who have already supported the film unfortunately, they are separate, and are only valid from the date that they were put up and as separate perks. They have their own inclusions underneath the explanation, so sorry for the confusion caused there!
THIS IS AWESOME!
Pure class, so we met the target within about a week which was completely unexpected and very humbling, so thank you all very much. We are continuing to raise money, both because you have to with IndieGogo to finish the campaign, but also because if manage to keep going, and hit something super it means we can move directly and much quicker onto post production with a grade and final edits of sound and cut etc.....so I going to keep campaigning to do as much as we can. As I said I am already bowled over with the response and I just hope I can make a film that you are all happy with......
So, cough cough, if i raised more I could shoot my helicopter shot.....joke.....sort of....what?
About the film, COLD...
This is a dramatic feature film called 'Cold', written and directed by myself, Eoin C Macken. The story is inspired by a piece in John Steinbecks East of Eden, and the plot centres around two disconnected English brothers who are ostracised in a small village in the west of ireland. Drawn back together by the unexpected and mysterious death of their father, they are immediately at odds until they find a girl dumped still alive in the moors. What follows is a bizarre turn of events, both beautiful and surreal as the two brothers search for their own resolution. At turns both a love story and the resolution of cracked relationships, the film has a incredible and unexpected twist.
The style of the film is influenced by Wim Wenders 'Paris, Texas', 'The Wicker Man', and the Kieslowski 'Three Colours Trilogy', and shot by the up and coming DOP Eimear Ennis Graham. Eimear shot with me on both the hugely controversial and award winning 'Charlie Casanova' by Terry McMahon, and this year on Mark O'Connor's Galway winning feature 'Stalker'.
The film features a plethora of wonderful actors in Tom Hopper (Merlin, Good Cop, Tormented), Jack Reynor (What Richard Did, Dollhouse), Rebecca Night (Wuthering Heights, Starlings), Liam Carney (Gangs of New York, Angeles Ashes, Titanic: Blood and Steel), and Eoin Macken (Merlin, Studs), along with a guest performance to be announced on completion of filming.
The film is 60% shot so far, and as you can see from the ungraded footage and the screen grabs (these are low quality screen grabs, not stills), the film so far has been shot beautifully, and come out incredibly well. We need help to fund the finishing of the film, both for the second section of the shoot, in October, and then for post production. Without this support we can still make the film, but considering how much work we have put in, we need the money to keep it at the quality it's been at, and help push it even further. As a project, it's been something that everybody involved has felt passionately about as the story is so powerful, and now we need the extra push to bring it to the place that it deserves to be.
The music is being done by the band The Evora, whom i grew up with and have scored my indie New York art house film 'Dreaming For You', and are recording their album in October to be used for this film, and also by the very talented Greg French of The Brilliant Things, who scored various shorts for me, the modelling documentary and The Inside with Kevin Whyms. Stills are done by the incredible Tim McDonnell.

As a director I have directed a few low budget films, such as The Fashion of Modelling documentary that RTE picked up in 2009, the no budget feature Christian Blake, that was released worldwide in 2009, and the experimental crazy horror film The Inside, coming out next year with Monster Films, and that premiered in Frightfest, London, on August of this year. As a DP, I shot Charlie Casanova and Stalker with Eimear Ennis Graham, and as an actor have appeared in various film and television projects, but this film is one that I have been prepping for the last 12months with Tom, as we wanted to be in a powerful story together that we could be proud of and hopefully have a massive impact on people.
What We Need & What You Get
We need the funding to pay for the second block of filming, I paid for it all out of my own pocket so far and I may end up homeless if I carry on, which I will happily do for this project because I believe in so much, but I may keel over first. The money will pay for equipment, food, transport, and all the essentials needed as we are shooting on the RED epic and we need the best quality gear to go along with it.
After that the money will used for the post production and sound and to get it to the initial festival stage or to a distributor to take it further.
If people come on board and help fund it, they will get signed posters, signed scripts, signed photo books of the film in stills, copies of the film once it's released, tickets to advance screenings, including a cast/crew premiere, ongoing information about the film, producer credits, imdb credits, the possibility of being an extra, coming on set to see it being made, and if they fund it to a large extent then an executive producer credit.
If we don't reach the entire goal I will complete the funding myself and sell my soul like Robert Rodriguez because I believe in this project so much and I think it will be a genuinely incredible film.p
If you can't contribute, but just want to help, then please feel free to spread the word, and there will be a twitter and facebook page to follow for updates shortly...

*** Just so people know, with the perks, we can't pay for travel costs, basic travel within ireland for the larger perks is ok, but not for outside the country unfortunately ***
