What is Cops and Monsters?
Hi! I'm Fraser from Silly Wee Films. I work as a freelance writer and director with several short films under my belt. I want to create exciting, dynamic stories that will entertain a wide audience.
"Cops and Monsters" is a new 6 part web series following the adventures of the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland as they investigate and protect humans, vampires, werewolves and zombies! Our cast is made up from actors who have starred in Doctor Who, Waterloo Road, River City, Burnistoun, School of Silence and Taggart!
Kirsty Strain, Sarah-Louise Madison, Colin McCredie, Alan Mackenzie, Mark Harvey, Billy Kirkwood, Caitlin Gillespie, Cat Joss all appear in our minisode.
This campaign is to help raise funds for the Cops and Monsters minisode, "The Weapon", a 5 minute episode that will both go online for all to see and act as a demo to get more funding to make a full 6 part web series. I love TV shows like Being Human, Torchwood and Doctor Who and I want to create a rich universe with real characters that fans of those shows can get excited about.
If you like vampires, werewolves and zombies then this show will be for you! We've got a bucket load of unique perks for everybody who supports the project and with your help we will be able to launch our series and create a new world for our characters to live in.
- Watch Kirsty Strain discuss playing Eve Mitchell, leader of the PITS!
- Watch Mark Harvey discuss his role of Jack Stone in the series.
- Watch Iona Barker discuss her approach to designing costumes for the series.
- Watch Billy Kirkwood discuss his role of The Cult of Many Faces and the perks he is offering!
- Watch Waterloo Road star Caitlin Gillespie discuss her role as Alia
- Watch Doctor Who actress Sarah-Louise Madison discuss her role as vampire Julia
- Watch Alan Mackenzie discuss playing Hank the PITS computer genius
What We Need & What You Get
We need £2000 and this will go on paying the cast and crew for the one day's shoot, it will pay for the Red Epic camera we're shooting on, the costumes, hair and makeup designs for our creatures, locations, props and production design. Every single penny goes towards the production!
"Cops and Monsters" will be shot on the Red Epic to give it a Hollywood production value, ensuring we have the best looking final product possible. We've secured a deal with the equipment and can't wait to show you the final results!
In return you can get a DVD copy of the minisode with an extended behind the scenes featurette included, tickets to geeky stand-up comedy nights in Glasgow with the chance of being in one of the sketches! We've got signed costumes, signed pictures from cast and crew, one-off fight training sessions from the team that worked on Batman Begins, IMDb producer credits, video messages and the chance to be in a future episode of the series!
Even if we don't hit our 100% target, what we do raise will go towards paying our cast and crew and whatever else we can afford to ensure we shoot the minisode.
Why Your Help Matters
With your help we will be able to make our pilot episode, which will be screened at comic conventions around the UK (and hopefully beyond!) and we will be able to build our fan base, which will lead to more investors, allowing us to shoot the first 6 episodes. They will go online, they will be free to watch all over the world! Who knows where it will go from there...
Filmmakers rely on people like you to support our work. Without you we wouldn't be able to make our projects, so thank you for even taking the time to look at our campaign. We just need 100 people to donate £20 each and we'll hit our target and make our minisode the best it can be!
What Happens After You Make The Minisode?
Once our minisode, "The Weapon", is completed we will put it up online for everybody to see. Backers will get to see it a week before the general public. We're lining up appearances at TV and film conventions throughout the UK with the cast and crew so we can meet potential fans and spread the word.
We'll then approach various production companies and grant bodies to look to raise the funds to shoot our 6-part series in the Summer. Each episode will be made available online for people to watch and we'll submit it to television channels to see if we can get it broadcasted.
Other Ways You Can Help
Get online! Post the link to our campaign on twitter, facebook and beyond! If you like Doctor Who, Torchwood, Being Human, The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, etc, then you'll like Cops and Monsters! It's a mix of drama, action and comedy, with maybe a little hint of romance. We've got a great writing team who are geeky too and they are writing the stories they want fans to love.
Spread the word, tell everybody and let's make this happen!
