Hi everyone! I am Vivien, 26 from germany and a-waiting to go to college starting September the 16th to study music. And I have always been... Why did it take me so long? It was only last year I eliminated "There is nothing I can work after having studied music and I won't even get a placement" of my thoughts. So simple! :)
In germany we have a big tradition in teaching classical music in college. I can not play a single classical piece and I don't know if I will ever be interested in doing it :) In 2009 I have lived as an Au Pair in Cork for 9 months and I have learned about this course and have seen lots of nice gigs and live events. Always dreaming of being up there or in the community of college - people, too but I never applied before May 2013. And now it's only 5 weeks till it'll be reality. To me it means to feel whole again and follow the very path I've always wanted to follow.
The "Music, Management and Sound" Course at the College (Coláiste Stiofain Naofa , http://www.csn.ie is a one-year programm that'll help me progress in everything I want to learn and improve about music and become better in songwriting.
As many students go on with "Music, Performance and Production" a two-years-programme it is kind of a 3 years programme, well in my head it is as it is mostly the same rooms, teachers and people.
With donating your money you will help pay for the first year in Cork:
-College (Student Services €200, FETAC Exam Fee €50, Rock School Exam Fee €90 and PLC Contribution €200) --> € 540 in total
-A bike to bring me to College (Cork Community Bikes around €50)
-Ship my Piano to Cork (s.th between €200 and €500)
-Rent and living --> €800 to €900 a month is reasonable. E.g. if I could safe 300 per month for rent through indiegogo I would need to work less besides college to make another 500-600)
-Coming home for christmas, coming home for summer holidays (around €300-€400 per stay in germany)
