The Crapaud Community Curling Club was established in 1964 and was the host of the well known Summer Spud Golf and Curling Spiel. We are entering our 50th Year and are at risk of not making our 51st year.
Our club has a long history of developing some of the best Curlers for PEI and in the prime of curling on PEI we had one of the largest member bases around. Over the past few years, our membership has began to slip as the interest in curling slipped with it. We want to change this and to continue to develop some of the young stars in Curling on PEI and to help foster a passion for the sport, as it continues to grow in popularity. Our club prides itself in helping provide an environment that is accessible for all levels of curling including stick curling and wheelchair curling.
Being a Not-For-Profit organization, our finances are funded by our membership, government support programs, and the any monies we can procure through fundraising.

In 2011 we received a grant from the PEI Provincial government to help us renovate our aging building. This was to ensure that the community and generations of curlers could continue to enjoy our facility. The grant helped fund the renovations we had planned for but unfortunately when renovating an older building it is like opening Pandora's Box. If you have ever attempted renovations in an older home you know exactly what we are talking about. What we found beneath the surface of our walls exceeded the available funds.
Leaving the unforeseen work unaddressed was not an option so the Board of Directors choose to complete the necessary renovations to ensure that the club would be fully operational and above all else a safe facility. This however, left the club in a challenging position. With no extra funds to pay outstanding bills, many of the hard working contractors and local business suppliers have gone unpaid. This is unfair and not acceptable.

Our GOAL IS SIMPLE. We now have a structurally sound build with the BEST ICE IN PEI but will not be able to keep the doors open for people to enjoy unless our past due bills are taken care of.
And that is why we are asking for your help. We want to – no we need to raise the necessary funds to pay off our hard working contractors and sponsors who completed their work. If we do not reach our goal, we may not be able to continue to operate let alone develop top-tier curlers or provide a venue for community or provincial curling events.
This is where YOU come in. What's in it for me, you may ask?
Besides the gratification of helping a community - run facility, continue to operate for everyone to enjoy?
We will be providing the following with donations of $25 or more:

Please Help us spread the word
Share it on Facebook, Tweet it, Yell it from your Soapbox!
By helping to spread the word, you will help us reach countless people. Perhaps, those who spent their summers coming to the Summer Spud Tournament? Or maybe somebody who learned to curl here and has since moved off Island but still remembers how it felt to glide down the ice of The Crapaud Curling Club. We all know how exhilarating it is to just sliddeeee and let go, now let’s share that feeling so we can continue to grow and help give back to the community that has been there for us during our financially challenging time.
Thank you from all of us here in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island
