After the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on November 22, 1963, Dallas was labeled by some as a "City of Hate." Now, fifty years later, 29 Pieces is partnering with over 60 community organizations to honor President Kennedy and to tell the world that love thrives in Dallas. The Dallas LOVE Project will engage 50,000 individuals in the creation of art on the theme of unconditional love. As a loving tribute to the memory of President Kennedy, the art will be displayed along the Kennedy motorcade route and throughout Dallas.

More than 60 local arts and community organizations are already engaged, including 29 Pieces, the Dallas Museum of Art, Matthews Southwest, Ronald McDonald House, South Dallas Cultural Center, Green Bandana Group, the Sixth Floor Museum, Keller ISD, United Nations Association, and many others.

50,000 people will participate in a variety of ways through sponsorship, creation of art, exhibition hosting, and partnership. Participants include students at Parish Episcopal, Uplift Education, Irma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School, Keller ISD, Maya Angelou High School for Pregnant and Parenting Teens, along with adults from Dallas County Jail, New Friends New Life, ArtLoveMagic, Artists Showplace and many other organizations.

WHAT: A collaborative public art initiative that celebrates the legacy of President John F. Kennedy and engages people of all ages and backgrounds to create and exhibit artwork about unconditional LOVE, inspired by quotes from great peacemakers, poets, writers, musicians, and artists.

WHY: To transform physical and mental walls across our city into galleries of LOVE and to respond to the perception from many years ago that Dallas is a "City of Hate."

WHEN: We will install art on the International Day of Peace, Saturday, September 21, 2013, and it will remain on exhibit through November 22nd, the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination.

WHERE: A variety of venues throughout Dallas will exhibit artwork, with a focus along JFK's motorcade route from Dallas Love Field to Parkland Hospital. Art will be found on storefronts and inside buildings. There will be at least 10 major venues off the motorcade route, including Whole Foods, SouthSide on Lamar, St. Matthews Cathedral, the Dallas Public Library, Trinity Groves, and Lincoln Centre.

Who: Anyone! You do not need to be a professional artist to get involved or own a gallery to exhibit artwork. Schools, churches, businesses, museums, community arts groups, and more are all contributing.

HOW: There are many ways you can get involved! Find out more below or go to https://www.dallasloveproject.is/readyforyourinvolvement

Give: Continue to support this Indiegogo campaign at any level and help spread the LOVE! Your contribution will help pay for installation hardware and campaign expenses.
Participate: Create your own work of art to hang as part of the project. Volunteer to help install art at exhibit locations. (See above link for more information.)

Partner: Donors between $25 and $1,000 will come to a training session on how to lead a group to create LOVE art, organize a group to create LOVE art, and promote the project via social media. For more information please contact Karen Blessen at Karen@29Pieces.org.

Exhibit: Display 18" x 18" works of 2-D art at your organization or business from September 21st to November 22nd, 2013. For more information please contact Kara Hobbs at karah@dallasloveproject.is.

Sponsor: Support the project as an official sponsor and receive exclusive benefits. Email Darryl Ratcliff at darrylr@dallasloveproject.is or Liz Trosper at lizt@dallasloveproject.is for more information.
